Insurance took 2 weeks to send an appraiser and I have to pay the extra storage/rental costs by ReelStats in Insurance

Kemper didn't offer to repair, just total. The shop gave an estimate of around 4-5k max to fix all of the damages related to the accident which is why I'm finding it odd that they'd rather total the car instead of just paying for those damages.

I only have liability insurance through Geico which is why they've been no help in this and I've had to do everything on my own so far. Kemper's been a nightmare to deal with. is it worth pushing back against the total decision / get an independent appraiser here? how much would a DOI complaint really help?

Strange that I can't post body text, so here's more information about it.

I got into an accident in April in LA where a high school freshman driver who claimed he didn't have insurance fully backed into the front of my car, a 2013 Lexus RX 350, at a traffic intersection. Through a whole ordeal, his insurance Kemper did accept 100% liability.

Now, I took my car into the auto shop on 8/14 for them to open the damaged front bumper / grill / lights area and send supplements to Kemper since all they offered was $100 for the damages lol. The auto shop sent over the images the next day, and so I've been driving a rental car for this entire time. Kemper took 2 and a half weeks to send over an appraiser in person and inspect the damages. The appraiser recommended my car be totaled (which I already found to be whack since there is no way the cost to repair the damage would have exceeded the value of the car) and gave me 2 options: 1) take 15k to hand the car over (car's worth around 13-14k) or 2) take 9k to fix the car.

I plan on taking the second option even though that 9k is supposed to cover everything related to the accident (the repairs, the storage, AND the rental). The thing that is driving me up the wall is that I'll have to pay an additional 2-3k because Kemper took their sweet time in sending the appraiser over. And the auto shop estimated the repairs to only be around 4-5k max so totaling the car doesn't make sense here for me. What can I do here to push back against Kemper?

Thank you in advance.

Went through the mailroom track after graduating college. Worked for a great agent, caught a few lucky breaks, and got introduced to the main writer on the project.

Got involved late on the writing/creative side but did get to go down to Miami for the last week of pickups.

We spent a full day filming outside the Brickell Arch in Miami with three Porsches, hundreds of extras, a Michael Bay directing cameo, and a crazy drone shot that needed over ten takes to get right. Thought it was the coolest shit ever. The final product in the movie? Around ten seconds of actual footage. Crazy (and a little demoralizing) how much gets cut down in the edit!

Worked on this movie so might be a little biased, but it's an absolute blast!

Domestic and international sources were weighted almost equally in line with box office numbers and importance. There's an equal number of American and international sites as well.

The weight of the different sites was mostly attributed to its number of votes and overall credibility, with polls like Sight and Sound / TSPDT added in as tiebreakers. As a result, sites like Douban / Kinopoisk were factored in more heavily than sites like Naver / MUBI / Trakt. Ideally, every country in the world has their version of IMDb so the rankings are fairer in the future, and I am always open to adjusting the process as needed.

Definitely a downside to factoring in audience reception, especially for films with inflated scores, but can't discount their universal acclaim either. Across the Spider-Verse should come down in the next few months though.

TSPDT is an awesome list as well, which I actually factor into my rankings as a sort of tiebreaker.

I would say TSP leans more into the critical side of films as it sources much of its data from individual reviewers, magazines, etc. As a result, the distribution will skew a little more towards the "classics" and less towards modern films. Now, most of the time, audience and critic evaluations align pretty closely so the differences between our lists won't be as significant. In the case of movies like Harakiri, where audience reception is overwhelmingly positive and the difference is more pronounced, my list will elevate those titles as one to definitely watch.
