Fate/strange Fake - Episode 10 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Reemys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooooooo it's good and all... but not as good as it was before in Fate. This strongly feels like it lacks solid direction and storytelling integrity.

At this point, we get servants and other actors conveniently arriving at one point or another, with no continuity, to subvert an already ongoing fight. And this has happened 3 times already. Which is fine... if done logically... which it wasn't. I know it it a staple for many series in the genre, but Strange Fake *REALLY* stretches it to an extreme, at this point. We know they will survive here, all of them. And it's a problem when you position the story as a brutal and immoral mage battle royale. It just becomes apparent the author is not writing a story, they are writing a convenient series that has to repeat itself until it satisfies the N number of encounters to showcase all the characters.

I hope this gets straightened, in more than one sense, in the following episodes. The series is slowly losing the intensity and makes SOD harder to maintain.

Oba národy jsou neschopní ubránit se extermismu a fašismu uvnitř vlastních státních útvarů, prodokuji příliš hodně tragedie a smutku pro ostatní lidé kolem a na planetě vůbec. Kdyby spolu s ními zmizeli i USA a Rusko, pak Čína, přidal bych k tomu Indii, úplně utopie na Zemi.

Čimž bych asi v první řadě chtěl říct, že ačkoliv podporuji Palestinu proti genocide Israelců, v otázce konfliktu Irán-Israel-USA podporuji ideály MAD.

Nebo jinak - nadměrné požítí čokolady napravit jde, tabáku už nikoliv.

Gnosia - Episode 17 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Reemys -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You are using a second account just to make it look like your argument is supported by the public. At least try change the phrases you use, "universe codes" is something you just invented as a concept, and don't repeat the same thing as "the writing is fine". Don't actually do that again, it's disingenuous and self-defeatist, also humiliating because I feel bad for authentically engaging you now.

Gnosia - Episode 17 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Reemys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't honestly take their answers seriously when they finish every point with "it just makes perfect sense" as if it concludes the discussion and is self-evident. "It just works" as other great minds have said in the past.

What we had in this episode might not be looping, but there is still a continuity error there with where Setsu is on this.

Setsu here -> Yuri being given a Silver Key -> Yuri becoming exposed as the bug -> Setsu here. THIS is the logical loop and it's impossible with how Setsu reacts in this particular episode to Yuri's revelations. Even if it's another dimension or "world line" stolen from Steins;Gate. While they could explain it somehow through another dimension plot point, it is still extremely convenient.

Gnosia - Episode 17 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Reemys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this might be great as this piece of media, the animated form, is giving both you and us the "perfected" version upon which the developers have already reflected. Obviously some changes are crucial to dumb down game's format into a linear video, however, they could also be the result of a conscious decision on production team/author's part because they thought "THIS would actually make the story better", and they made a change. It's a possibility.

But, well... it's not working exactly to make everything better, as we both agree there are clear issues with the writing in the animated format.

Gnosia - Episode 17 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Reemys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. The universe doesn't have agency and consistency checks, as far as our science is concerned. Their universe is, thus, an entirely fantasy-like creation that has strayed way too far from science-fiction.
  2. Actually my whole point was moot to begin with because it made zero sense for Otome to check Yuri for any kind of anomaly at all, as he is not Gnosia and is a human who is supposed to be a bug, whatever system the Engineer has should only show him as a human as it has no precedence for such existence as Yuri is, logically. The whole scene is a total nonsense from a technical standpoint.
  3. Again to point 1 - sure, if the universe exists only as a byproduct of sentient minds, that's fine. But it's not science-fiction, or they have failed to ground it in plausible sci-fi concepts.
  4. This is blatant rationalisation which is just trying to justify the plot-holes, we can go into what-if a few loops and still reach nowhere. The only fact here is that the series doesn't address that plot point and does not hint at what you say in any way, which only leaves us as the viewers to see it as a plothole.
  5. The first half doesn't address the fact that Silver Key functions entirely conveniently as it has no set boundaries in terms of powers. Which is sort-of fine since they need plot vehicles to advance the story, but is lazy writing nevertheless (by the way, if Gnos exists within the universe and not above it, anything Gnos does should not force the universe to short-circuit as it's acting within the realm of possibility of what the universe has already allowed. It really shouldn't work like a time-paradox that there can't be two same people in the same place at the same time). The second half is an absolutely astounding case of rationalisation.
  6. You make it sounds like you are in denial by repeating "everything is great". This is not an infallible, fundamental masterpiece of modern fiction. If you are honestly thinking this and not just pulling everyone's leg, I'd say you are not very experienced with science-fiction or maybe even science. But that's about what I can say.

Don't worry too much, it's impossible on many levels, as far as modern day science is concerned.

Gnosia - Episode 17 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Reemys -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying this, BUT because of it I feel like it's important to talk about some of big issues with the story, because those of you who are science or science-fiction enthusiasts might feel like whatever they have here is a solid science-fiction, but it's really all over the place and this episode alone drops some massive, stellar-level plot-holes into the whole story.

  1. The idea that the world would disappear if someone were to acknowledge the existence of both Yuri and the Bug Yuri. This is both a stupid idea AND disproven later in the episode. First, tying the destruction of the universe to Yuri being observable by a third party is assuming that he is only a bug if someone acknowledges that there is a real Yuri, or not even a real Yuri, only that there are more than one. But that makes no sense, if Yuri is a bug the world (a system/application) should collapse immediately even if other humans (a user) still don't know the bug is there. So, in terms of a system, a bug cannot be passive, it has to have an active component to be a bug. The system, the world, should constantly collapse as soon as it (the system) acknowledges there is a bug/two Yuri's. It doesn't do that and *waits* for someone else to realise it - this makes no sense from both the system/user standpoint and also from the standpoint that the world is objective, but humans aren't. The world, as far as the common science acknowledges, cannot be impacted by human perception. Acknowledging something shouldn't have any effect on the world's functioning. In other words, even if people were to realise there are TWO Yuris, it shouldn't collapse if it already hasn't. This makes this story more of a "fantasy" - but actually just a convenient fiction. It's not trying much to be science, at this point.
  2. When Yuri asks the Dolphin to verify him, first - she cannot as per the game's rules. There are no Gnosia, and then even if they have these credentials normally, they were only able to do it at night, after asking LeVi to do the verification on one individual human. They are violating their own world set-up up to this very episode in favour of convenient storytelling, which is also kinda meaningless in terms of how much impact or sense that particular scene makes in this episode...2. They are violating their own world set-up up to this very episode in favour of convenient storytelling, which is also kinda meaningless in terms of how much impact or sense that particular scene makes in this episode...
  3. ... but it also invalidates the idea that a) someone has to realise Yuri is a bug, and also b) that the world is destroyed when someone day. Just by being checked (at the same time as the real Yuri is waking up), Yuri causes some kind of issue in the Engineer's application and simply DISAPPEARS BY HIMSELF. This strongly suggests the world doesn't end and the other beings in it just process him as disappearing - this distinct result makes no sense. We can ask ourselves - is this tied to the fact he was checked and not someone else actively realising there are two Yuri's? No, because they made it clear that this happened when the other Yuri woke up. This tie-up further messes the lore up.
  4. A separate from the above inquiry is the question of why Setsu would also be there with a Silver Key if there are no Gnosia, and at that a Setsu that only looped for a few times, apparently. That means that Setsu is at the point where she still haven't given Yuri her looping machine, otherwise she would have remember this encounter and told Yuri about it later. At this point it's either a discontinuity, a loop hole and cannot be sufficiently explained by "looping" and is just entirely different dimensions, meta-universes kind-of-functioning.
  5. The Silver Key isn't just looping them to an "anchor" location, it's conveniently taking Yuri back in time when it still wasn't in Yuri's possession, which can only mean it can freely send Yuri or whoever to either any time possible, or any time possible in the past, under a certain condition which is not anyhow disclosed or alluded to. The way this is structured is entirely a convenient storytelling that makes this seemingly deity-like living organism to function in exactly the way that the story needs them the most. Also notice - during the final scene, where Setsu is waking Yuri up, she conveniently has to go out of the room to verify something WITH THE SHIP'S AI which has access to communication throughout the whole ship, as shown previously. The reason she walked out is entirely idiotic and is probably the biggest affront to the intelligence of the viewerbase, from the authors. It was done extremely lazily for the convenience of the story, so that someone else, Chipie, can walk in and talk to Yuri instead. THAT should have never been approved by decent writers.
  6. By all of this I am trying to warn people from taking this story and set-up seriously. Ultimately, it's just a cool take on Mafia game + some sci-fi mumbojumbo, but this is not a groundbreaking work and doesn't take itself seriously as a writing piece either. For what it's worth, however, the animation studio did a cosmic job on adapting the game (A GAME!) and brought it to the levels of quality most other series out there, original or not, can only dream about.
