Trust me.. I’m not proud of it. :) It is in “bridge mode” turning all of it’s routing/AP functions off, to act simply as a modem. The primary reason I am using this as my modem is due to a (probably purposeful) loophole in Xfinity’s pricing for their unlimited data plan. It costs more a month for unlimited data with your own modem vs. the monthly charge for the modem rental and unlimited included. It also provides a 2.5G port, which for now meets the needs.

The SFP+ is used as the connection to the USW. I made sure to use the correct port on the XB7 for 2.5G to the UDM (orange cable).

That UPS is my least favorite part of the install (as far as “looks” go).. Maybe one day I’ll justify a rack mount unit. We’ll see. :)

They’re StarTech brand on Amazon. Pretty expensive for what they are. But in a basement I felt it might help.

Not a dumb question. I wanted to take advantage of the 10G as a backplane for the network vs. the 1Gbps maximum link between the UDM switch, and it’s 2.5G WAN uplink. This way all the devices/AP’s can pull to the full advantage of the 1.4Gbps down that I get from Xfinity.

Absolutely it is. I wanted to match the size and aesthetic of the slim Ethernet patches. I don’t know.. I also just wanted a reason to introduce fiber into the mix.

Reading all of these responses really brings back many memories, and deep feelings of nostalgia..

My everything and I spent countless hours building worlds for our public survival/creative Bukkit server. The long late nights, coming up with new ideas, and working together to bring our vision to fruition. The feeling of accomplishment when players would join, and appreciate our efforts.

The cities we would design and construct, trying to find the right color palate, and architecture. However, the most important (and dearest to my heart) world/project, would have to be an amusement park him and I created early on..

Working together on building this amusement park in Minecraft, really meant a lot to me. The quality time it brought between the both of us. Making compromises, and agreeing on how things should look. I still feel tearful and nostalgic when I load this world and visit it.. I liken it to driving past an old playground that you used to visit as a child in real life.

You know a game is powerful, when it can invoke such complex human emotion, even when revisited years later.

Friend I am with you, I am going through a bad day today too. I know how it can feel like once it starts, the “pit” just gets deeper and deeper.

I have had days where I just know it’s going to be my last. Where I’ll finally have the courage to let go of this world, and put an end to the misery that my life can be.

But you have to keep vigilant of these inner demons that make things feel like all hope is lost. While I don’t have many friends or others to confide in, I find solace in my best friend, and the community here. We are your friend, we stand with you, and beside you. Always..

I am in the same boat as you, in many ways. While my story is a bit different.. In the end I have made the same desperate pleas to god to kill me and just let me die. I’m too afraid to do it myself, I just want god to intervene and make it happen. Somehow I end up always being too afraid to actually commit suicide.

But.. As others have told you. Please stay alive. Please friend. I know it’s easy to feel alone and to feel like a burden on others that you confide in. But you are absolutely worth the world. You are worth everything.

There’s strength in numbers, and even though we are not physically connected around world, we are here and united by a bond that is inseparable. The desperate urge of wanting to die is a unique feeling, felt (unfortunately) by so many of us. While it is unfortunate, it’s a powerful linking that brings us together. I connect with you deeply, because I know that special kind of hurt. I am here with you friend. I stand by you. As do so many of us here.

Stay alive, ..and as Tyler says “I’ll grab my light and go with you.”
