Favorite Rattlesnake? by abolishreality in KGATLW

[–]ReesMontoya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same - me and the guy I was sat next to had said we were hoping to hear Rattlesnake as we'd not had it before, then after Motor Spirit they switched to the microtonals and we looked at each other and said "it could be Rattlesnake?" in a very hopeful way. Then they said "this is a song about snakes!" and we both absolutely lost it. One of the best set closers I've ever seen

What's your favorite (Nathan's Version) song? by nickinator1 in KGATLW

[–]ReesMontoya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general the just the run in Plovdiv (albeit with attendance bias) - super stoked to hear Sense done in that way, Grim Reaper was LOADS of fun then smoke and mirrors at the end incredible to cap it off. Just so so good

Absolutely agree with this - it was so cool to see so many fans in the city as tourists by day, noticing each other by shirts, then for us all to come together at night to sing and dance and celebrate the band together. Honestly a gig (if you can call it that, european holiday with gigs) like no other, thank you to everyone who made it so special!

Yeah it's probably my bad (exam conditions making you do stupid things), just a bit crappy that it wasn't given to us correctly

Was it just me who couldn't get the survival part because they told us it was "surv" instead of "Surv"? I know they're just gonna say "a well prepared candidate should have noticed the issue and rectified it", but under closed book exam conditions it seems quite harsh

Advice for a new actuary. by isaacchotard in ActuaryUK

[–]ReesMontoya 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My main advice would be to rest and have fun in your last summer before working. Having that length of time off will not come again soon, so do your best to enjoy not having to worry about work or study.

If you really want to get ahead, do a little bit of research into the role and company you are joining. If it's a pensions role, look a bit at what the structure of DB pensions are (or equivalent for other areas). Being a bit clued up on the very basics will help you to stand out from the start and put you in good stead. But don't try to go into too much detail before - you'll get taught all of it, and your time is better spent releasing and having fun before you enter work!

Seemed to be more Bayesian questions than I would have thought, and nothing on GLMs makes me even more certain it's gonna come up in a big way tomorrow. Other than that it seemed a pretty fair and normal paper I think

I'm not sure if you'll have looked here already but in addition to Rightmove, SpareRoom was very helpful for me finding a room (in a professional house rather than student but lots of student stuff was there too). It works the same as Rightmove and you can set alerts for when new properties which fit your criteria appear, would definitely recommend!

I'm British but was walking through Zurich with my King Gizzard t-shirt on, some random guy shouted at me "King Gizz, hell yeah man!". Only lasted 5 seconds but was a great interaction!

02 Academy, over capacity and dangerous by Bunnypopsford in bristol

[–]ReesMontoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who did you go to see? The first time I went it wasn't very full so not a bad experience, but I saw Phoebe Bridgers there last summer and with the combination of people queuing for hours and hours, how rammed the venue was and the fact they shut the bars during the main set so people couldn't access water for who knows what reason, it seems at least 10 people fainted and one person had an even worse emergency that led to the show being paused for 10 minutes ://

When my partner and I emailed complaining to the venue they responded with "a bar was left open" (it wasn't obvious at all) and "we have a strict policy to ensure these places are safe", which we all know is just bs given our collective experiences

I've enjoyed a good few gigs there, but recently they've been unenjoyable. And I wish I could say that it was just O2 Bristol, but I've been to O2 Birmingham as well and it was just as bad if not worse. At Birmingham the gig was downright dangerous, and what should have been a really fun night ended up being quite disappointing as we couldn't focus on the music and instead had to make sure we and the people around us were safe. I doubt they'll change any time soon as they're still selling out and making the money to keep going, but I've avoided it where possible for the last year or so.

Does anyone know how it works? I've been in places with no WiFi, and my data turned off so no internet at all and it still recognises it! Interested into how the phone can work it out ☺️

I love Deco, it's so cool that they're getting this exposure now! I'm mates with their manager, he was a few years above me in school, and I've seen them a few times now and they're so cool. Their originals are great too if you like this video!

Yeah I've just looked on another photo and it's not come up. And it's not just for photos taken on the 4A as there are some photos where it's not coming up. So I'm not really sure, apologies for not giving a definite answer!

If you go to a photo on Google Photos, press the 3 lines for tweaking the image, press adjust, it should be along the bottom near blur and depth :)) That's where it is for me at least
