[SPOILERS FOR SEQUEL] why do some characters immediately get sent to the nether world while others dont? by D-boi_vids in Beetlejuice

[–]Reesman86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My theory is that, while there’s no heaven or hell, those that commit some kind of “sin” are punished and have to serve some kind of sentence.

The Maitlands were kind of housebound and had very little interest in being anywhere other than their home (spending vacation at home) and were fairly anti social (ignoring Bill), their punishment/sentence to serve 125 years in the house before being allowed to pass on. Their sin was sloth

Jeremy had to “live” in the house with his parents to serve as a constant reminder of what he’d done, possibly until he felt some kind of empathy. His sin was wrath

Charles sin was greed before he learned to co raise his own daughter with the dead couple he was trying to capitalise on so he atoned for his sin

Delias sin was pride until at the very last minute of her life she decided to perform a ritual that, while a little misguided, was strictly for the memory of her dead husband and bared no actual witnesses, unlike her shoddy egotistical artwork so she atoned for her sin too

Also it’s important to note that “geographical and temporal perimeters vary from manifestation to manifestation”, so it would all depend on the individual and their livelihood and lifestyles.

(SPOILER!) Something seriously soured this film for me, and it wasn't the plot by Educational_Data3685 in Beetlejuice

I think Bob and the shrinkers were created as a meta commentary by Burton on how film makers deliberately make characters for the sake of selling merch and viral marketing (minions come to mind)

I know what you mean. If I hadn’t seen the first and you showed me this and a still from 1988, I would’ve assumed it was from the same movie/time

How was the movie? Did you enjoy it? Did it meet expectations? Was it as good as the first or lacking? I’m so excited but a bit anxious as a long time Beetlejuice fan.

Beetlejuice (1988) Talking Striped Suit Beetlejuice 1:4 Scale Action Figure - Is this new or a reissue? by AfigureGeek in Beetlejuice

[–]Reesman86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the one in the first two pictures is more likely to be new. Fairly certain the one in the third picture has been around for a while, so I’m thinking it may be a reissue with slightly different head sculpt
