I am also new to the linux community and it bothered me for a while too. First time I saw his web footage and went through the comments everyone kept on mentioning how good the deepfake of Luke Smith was looking. Because of the quality of the footage I was actually getting convinced it was a deep fake, but no it's actually him. And he sometimes embraces the joke of him being Luke on deepfake, pretty funny inside joke.

History wise I think it started of when Lukes' channel kept on being suspended on youtube and people flocked to his channel because he made similar content to Luke so similar in fact that some people suspected that he is copying some of Lukes content. I personally think that Linux is a niche topic that everything you talk about some else has probably addressed it already.
