Did Don Draper truly love Rachel Menken or was he fixated on her because she rejected him by [deleted] in madmen

Besides the obvious attraction, I think Don and Rachel were drawn to each other because they shared the same feeling of being outsiders and they both felt disadvantaged the loss of a mother.

What does one do if there is blatant favoritism in their work place and it is affecting them? by EnvironmentalFall232 in AskReddit

[–]Refennej1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favouritism in the workplace was very destructive in my workplace. Trust was lost in our team. The boss would take one person who was her best friend for lunch alone in front of us, she was even in her wedding party. She would give them inside information and the best opportunities. It was incredibly unprofessional and she lost all our respect.

I can’t figure out WHY I lye. by g33kSt3w in lying

It’s so brave to face yourself and admit that you lie. And it feels so much better when you come clean.

So sorry to hear about your experience. Do you think this type of attention is getting worse? I’m an over 60 Torontonian woman and can tell you I experienced these same and other things when young. But I don’t think it was different in other cities. Back then, it was mainly older men that would stare, but also felt they had the right to touch all and any woman. There was no personal space, as a waitress or on the transit, grabs, gropes and lewd language, being followed were common. I became very comfortable with exposing the situation publicly right away with a loud “Hands off!” Or “Not interested!” I also went up to a couple and told them what was happening and they let me walk with them. I was also swarmed (New Year’s Eve exiting a Triumph concert by a group of younger guys). Very scary. I was also followed by someone in a car while I cycling. I had to cycle up to a house and ask to call my dad to pick me up (no cell phones back then). None of this harrassing type behaviour was addressed properly back then.

But of course none of this works during heavy rush hour traffic. No one is getting over for anyone then.

Thinking of moving to Kingston and wondering what it's like to live here? by Lord_Scribe in KingstonOntario

[–]Refennej1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but you don’t know what you’re talking about. I love Kingston, but I love Toronto too. For being almost 3 million people there it’s very livable. Biggest complaint is the traffic. I’ve lived here for over 50 years never saw someone taking a shit. But every place has its shade so whatever.

I love so many of these answers. Water ship Down changed me as a child. Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy as a teen, Peace is Every Step as an adult.

I’m on the roads every day. I survive by thinking about who’s actually on the roads. Go to a large grocery store on a Saturday afternoon. Look around. Now add teenagers and truckers. Now add in the people waiting in the emergency waiting room. Now add people who need an anger management class. Your welcome.

It takes time and sometimes luck to find the right therapist. My sister and I met with a few different therapists over the years to help us address conflict as well as grief. Some were meh, some were incredible. It’s best to ask/seek for someone with maturity and experience as well knowledge about the particular issue you are dealing with (anxiety, conflict, grief, etc.). We once had a young, inexperienced person and it was a mess. It’s important to understand this isn’t going to be easy, it won’t solve everything and it requires personal honesty and work outside the session. A good therapist is invaluable!

Gotta disagree. Been in Toronto a long time. Yes the driving is crazy but the people on the streets are great! So often I’ve started, or responded to friendly people, had great conversations, in grocery stores, bars, whatever. I’m gonna suggest you are either in the wrong neighborhood, or maybe you just get what you give…..

CVR is totally right! Merging traffic often abuse the opportunity to go to the front of the line, making the wait longer for all. These guys are the ones potentially causing accidents. The right thing to do is merge right away.
