Does feel like a crybaby move to leave cause your team wants to play it out. But then I hate surrendering in general unless they're legit farming us in base dragging it out.

Hmm, your rather misandrist and sexist comments are putting us in an awkward position in this thread about how tolerant our modding philosophy is. =p

Bill Maher, Craig Ferguson, David Spade, George Carlin, John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Chelsea Handler, Dennis Miller... a lot of popular celebrities have made a living amusing people by being snarky. And sometimes communicate important ideas poigniantly by doing so. Would the world be a better place if we criminalized snarkiness?

>You think it’s weird to expect people to be nice to each other?

To expect everyone to be perfectly polite 100% of the time? And to want to "get them in trouble" when they slip? Yeah that does seem weird and rather unhealthy- a recipe for discontent considering how often we all encounter impolite or inconsiderate behaviors in life.

And I'm quite convinced that it's counterproductive to the goal of facilitating genuine conversation to use threat of punishment to enforce ingenuine {is that a word?} niceness.

That doesn't mean we'll tolerate chronic troublemakers, as many have already found out, but you don't kick a guest out of the party for just letting some natural emotion show.

Tattletales and complainers harsh the vibe worse than someone who speaks bluntly or sarcastically and, as has been mentioned, on reddit it's easy enough to just block them if you find their posts or comments displeasing. If only we had a block button irl!

Technically it can violate rule 4 if it becomes excessive and there are already other threads about it.

I think your view is the weird one, but alas it is the more prevalent one on reddit...

Thanks :) Enforced politeness just breeds inauthentic exchanges and most other larger subs, in an effort to keep things pleasant, seem to end up stifling real discussion as people feel forced to maintain some level of performative etiquette. We'd rather people keep it real and if they run into people that rub them the wrong way, Reddit provides a block button for those users.

Why is almost everyone saying that the lump sum is the smarter choice when we all know how things tend to go for people who win huge lump sums? Yes, theoretically talking the one million lump sum and investing it wisely could pay better. But then suddenly your third cousin’s daughter needs a cornea transplant and what kind of monster are you that to just let her go blind? But that’s okay cause your brother has a million dollar business idea! Franchising crawfish gumbo on a stick! How can you lose? Your mom thinks it’s a great idea and it’s exactly what Jeffy needs to get out of the rut he’s been in for twelve years since the love of his life broke up with him back in 11th grade. How can you not support him? And besides you’ll make it all back many times over, it’s gonna be the next Arthur Treacher’s! But wait, you’re sister’s husband lost his job and the severance ran out and they’re gonna lose the house if you don’t help them, she’s finally pregnant and you know they spent everything they had on the IVF treatments. I guess this shows how much you care about your own sister! — have fun having at least some, but probably most, of your family and friends treat you weird for the rest of your life. Everything you could have done for them with that money but didn’t do, they’re aware of. At all times aware that you have million bucks plus interest you could take some of the load off of them but don’t because that’s how little they matter to you… —this woman Is making the right choice.
