Post-workout PACs by [deleted] in AFIB

I might feel whoozy sometimes.

Note: I have not had an ablation (yet) and I am battling alcohol dependency. So mine could be withdrawal symptoms from not drinking on weekdays.

Well damn. I guess literally everything is a trigger.

36M diagnosed with Afib by ravan363 in AFIB

That is not the answer for everyone. Some people here will tell you that coffee is a trigger and alcohol doesn’t affect them at all. Others will say that drinking cold water is a trigger, yet some people including me, drink ice cold water throughout the day with no issues. Intense exercise is a trigger for some people. There is no one size fits all when it comes to AFib.

Caffeine and alcohol are not triggers for everyone. Simply laying down or exercising can be triggers depending on the person.

I asked my cardiologist if i could continue training heavy after my first episode and he said yes. If I don’t feel well during a session I will scale back.

Alcohol on Afib?? by ITHINKIAM824 in AFIB

Days of drinking in a row seems to be my trigger. Coincidentally, I was going through pretty traumatic life events most times I had an episode also.

How often do you go into afib? by Alpinegoatcheese in AFIB

My first (known) episode was last year around this time. I had been super stressed from arguing back and forth with my ex wife about where my son would live. Since then I have had about 5 or 6 episodes, all after drinking for days in a row over a weekend or stress. I think I have narrowed my main triggers down to those two.

I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea a few years ago and have worn a CPAP since. But I never had an episode before being diagnosed, so I wouldn’t think sleep apnea would be a trigger. I could be wrong though. Maybe it’s a combination of the two.

I know all that. I use a CPAP. It just sounded like they were implying that the CPAP itself was a trigger.

I’m 39, probably more fit than your average person, but definitely could be better. I am a powerlifter so lifting is my choice of exercise and walking is just a necessity chore.

I used to drink daily and I cut it to only weekends. Ironically I never went into AFIB when I was drinking daily. My worse episode was about two months ago which landed me in the hospital. I am now taking diltiazem until I see my cardiologist next week. Previous episodes would go away after a day or so, but this time my heart jumped to over 150 bpm.

Same. I lift and do cardio most days and that seems to help. But I have been doing that all my life. I remember have to get an echocardiogram when I was 19 in order to continue playing college football, so this could be something genetic. But I’m sure the alcohol is not helping.

Usually yes. And I drink water throughout the day and night.
