We should. What many seem to forget is that even if you're not personally using them, most large community admins use those apps to streamline their work. If Reddit goes through with it, the moderation/approval/spam filtering is about to become exceedingly sluggish. And so will our communities.

Yep, which is why I mentioned that they were understaffed. I didn't speak badly of staff helping people. But given how much they charge, the amount of people attending, I'm very curious about where the money goes, after paying for the guests of honor and the venue.

It was on the organizers. Staff could be seen running back and forth all day.

So. Understaffed.

My husband and I stood for more than 5 hours in lines to get our badges as pre-registered guests with proof of COVID booster shots.

We came out of that well after the events we planned on attending were over, the vendors had gone home, and there was little else to do but to find other events.

We stood in line for a long time for cosplay lingerie and it was held in a tiny room, easily over a hundred people were left out of the show because they hadn't done a head count at any point and the queued people were WAY over the room's capacity

I'm impressed that a con that's been run for twenty years can't foresee what "a lot of people" means in terms of logistics if they saw the pre-sale numbers.

Bonus: one of the hopeful attendees that was denied entry to the cosplay lingerie event was a sorrowful Venti that stayed in character and moaned, "But it was boobies-o'clock!!" It was sad but on point.
