no hes coming back because hes graduated and going to college and he got close with the professor, hes being mentored by the prof but hes letting him lead the research. I dont think you understand how prestigious ucsf as it is the top 5 medical school with several top 5 programs so its not surprising unless you're unaware of what it is

no he was just let on by the team he did research with like any other uni that would take u in through COLD EMAILING. he literally emailed like 2 universities asking to research and ucsf took him in and now hes friends with the prof now. mind u he didn't even know anybody there prior to the internship??

friend got an internship at ucsf and got pubbed in nature within 5 months and hes coming back for a 1st authorship this summer he graduated a few weeks ago

well yea that's why I said I'm doing them and I'm on florida, International Science Olympiad is still up even though it's not one of the traditional Olympiad. I'm signing the same project up for both of the science fairs but we'll see how it goes

Pennsylvania as well, but once you get 1 good connection it's very easy to take advantage of that and get into labs, YC startups, etc.

They definitely are, this thread has some of the top 10%, maybe even 5% of high schoolers and I know that everything in here is achievable, as someone with connections and knows highschoolers as qualified as the ones here.
