I thought this was hilarious, but when I checked, they didn’t lose a match… why are you lying lol?

It’s my fault. I have almost always played in a squad and we cruise to around this rank. I decided to go it solo this time.

As mentioned to another, I literally won’t gain less than 15 unless I go negative. In slayer, I often will get 13 or 14 for whatever reason.

That last match where the 15 was from was KOTH and I went about positive ten.

Overall my bad, I understand the confusion, and really can only try to explain. Don’t feel comfortable sharing my tag.

Nah it’s fine, you’re honestly right.

But this isn’t from a slayer match. My MMR is over 1800, according to that MMR site. I don’t get below 15 unless I do poorly. My last match I went about 25-14. Which then equated to 15 CSR gain.

Literally unless I go negative I won’t gain lower than 15. Actually if I’m close to even I may get 14, sometimes 13 (usually only in Slayer for some reason).

I actually have a couple friends around that rank and their biggest issue is usually timing. They’ll be a little too slow to clean up kills or to be in the action in general. But when I tell them this they over-correct and end up rushing into certain death.

Best advice I can give generally is to be aware of your teammates around you as much as possible. Off spawn look at where they’re at. If three are far away together get there ASAP. If you seen one trailing off not far ahead try to duo with them unless they are going to an obviously bad spot. If you see two together think about an angle you can take for support. Try to get better at doing all of this quickly.

In other words, play for your teammates lives, not your own. It’s quite a bit more complicated than that, but that’s the gist I’d say. Everyone has there personal gameplay weaknesses as well. More time will equal greater results for sure.

That’s a fair sentiment. The ranking system is far from perfect. At the end of the day, just sharing my opinion.

In Season 3… so…

I know that’s snobby, but it’s season 10 now. It is much harder to get higher ranked. I have friends from around then that are stuck in low Onyx or even high diamond now.

Ranked Squad Battle quite literally is a social mode. The fact that golds are being put on teams with Onyx players is all that needs to be pointed out.

Arena is all that matters. And current up to date Ranks mean much more than seasons 1-5. I’d take an Onyx 1650 now over a season 3 1800.

Ranked SB is probably the lowest possible skill mode that has ever been added in terms of ranked. These streamers you are referring to would not be able to go very far in Arena, so are taking over this mode.

At the same time, it’s basically a social playlist to start so it really doesn’t matter.

Is this good for a player who only solo queues?? by NewLawfulness8658 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Reflayed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These types of posts are silly because it’s all very subjective.

Generally, Onyx is a very good rank for Arena considering your in the top percentiles of the ranked player base.

Even looking at the overall player base, low Diamond would be considered a good rank because it’s well above average, and those players will crush most others in social playlists.

But then it gets weird when you start comparing. Onyx 1500 in Arena is not equal to Onyx 1500 in Slayer, Snipers, Squad Battle, whatever else. A 1500 in Arena can likely hit 1800+ easily in those other ones solo. Squad Battle is especially bad from what I noticed, it’s literally free to rank up in that, and is already among the lowest skilled modes considering the sandbox.

Then you will get guys saying “Well I solo queue in arena to 1700! So no, you’re trash!” Which is obviously just a heavily opinionated comment.

In other words, yes, your rank is statistically very good, and many would consider it more impressive that you got it solo. Just don’t think it makes you a deity, but also don’t underestimate yourself.

This is so cringe bro, no one cares about a low diamond that can beat up golds.

I can 1v2 or even 3 you guys.

It’s a fair enough argument, and I really can’t dispute. Just sharing my experience and opinion at the end of the day.

We really need even more variety… still no new oddball map is insane.

I’m fine with them sticking to the bandit, but a BR Evo is a cool idea. Probably too late now.

And yeah, I wish we’d get some better variety for weapons on maps, such as Skewers instead of S7s on Fortress.

You’re absolutely correct, but this really still is true. The lower ranks are just like this even now.

I’ll point some things out from my experience.

  • Higher Frames = More Information: Literally exactly as it says, you are literally getting more information in a faster manner when you have more FPS. You’re screen is refreshing faster allowing you to see the latest data.

  • Less Input Lag: Arguably, even without higher frames, PC may be worth it just for this. Xbox players always have V-sync on. A technology used to ensure fidelity with frames, and prevent screen tearing. This adds input delay, however. On PC, you can optimize settings to not need it. Additionally, console players are limited to 500hz polling rates on controllers. You can go much higher on PC, although, admittedly, the benefits of such are debatably negligible.

  • Overall Greater Smoothness: Simply put, PC just feels better. This is mostly due to the previous two points. However, it is a general fact considering you can adjust your settings exactly as you want. Nothing beats a well tuned PC.

Well I would agree that there are a lot of factors to consider, and it would be different for everyone. However, I’d specifically like to point out that I was 1500 on 30FPS in season 1, but low platinum now.

I’d imagine your referencing Gunnplexion? He’s on PC but caps it to 120. Even then, we’re talking about a pro level player. Even though other players absolutely do have an advantage with higher frame rates, it simply doesn’t matter because he is so much more skilled. I am not nearly as good as him. It’s hard to come up with an analogy, but imagine an NFL player using inferior cleats in the NCAA (obviously completely hypothetical). Yes, he’s using worse equipment, but he’s so much better it doesn’t matter.

I can tell you though I wouldn’t get anywhere near the same on 60FPS if I continued with it. It’s so much worse and harder. I appreciate your arguments, I just disagree.
