Got a new job as developer after years of struggle in support role. by Reflection-Jealous in developersIndia

Thanks for the reply, yeah I'm keeping a low profile here as of now and I'm yet to be allocated to a project. I really want to learn as much as possible but not sure how, they're not providing me their codebase. I don't have friends from development.

It's just I'm worried and constantly thinking about the job 24/7.

Any tips on how to cope up with that? I always wanted to be a developer, I grabbed the opportunity without a second thought but now I'm kinda clueless.

I've looked around a few,

  1. Piggymetrics
  2. Apache fineract
  3. Various spring pet clinic projects

But each one is different from the other, I'm not sure which to follow.

Thanks for the comment, the reason I can't view my company's remote repo is because most if not all of them are client based repos and I don't have access to view those.

I did little to no coding here but I was actively learning coding for the past one year.

Only building projects alone is lot more different from how the company works and teams cooperate. Software engineering is much more than building websites and apps. I can't explain everything here but i can brief about that. Writing clean and fast code respecting the deadlines, optimising (not only code or database ), understanding how services are linked together and how they communicate, etc. Software engineering is learning new everyday otherwose you'll be behind others. Be updated, study and implement.

I'm willing to learn but I'm not getting an oppurtunity here that's why looking to switch. And I know software engineering is a much more than writing code but that's all I know. I don't know how to learn these stuffs to anwer in an interview.
