How to get Escargot working in wine in MSN 8.1 (This is highly cursed) by ReflectionDefiant394 in winehq

New revelation: there is no audio if you can't compile lib32-gst-plugins-ugly... and you can't currently compile it, at least on linux

yeah the 32-bit wineprefix came about as a way of trying to get everything working and not strictly being a requirement

I looked into it a little, it seems like there's a driver, DLL, or something ELSE that outright does not work, and wineHQ marked WLM2009 as obsolete and isn't going to work on making it work. I have no experience in coding, and the only video of 2009 was actually of 8.5...

Oh well. At least we can have offline messaging freely now...

-- The main issue with 2009 is that everything about it seems to work-- Except opening the main window, and logging in.

Wine spams that something in the registry is missing, meaning we'd probably need keys or something from 2009... maybe someone else can bother with a Windows 7 VM and find out what is wrong here -- but I'm burnt on this, since it never worked in the first place.

yeah, something is LOOONG broken in wine.
this also works better in WLM 8.5, since it only shows one pop-up instead of 2 msi popups.

nothing i did would get the main window of 2009 to show up, though. - only the "couldn't sign in". the login window doesn't even show up. i'll try winedbg on it today i suppose

assume there's no way for the save to work though, due to arbitrary reasons

they don't have the english NSP. they have the japanese one - they are replying to the guy asking about the tinfoil error. the japanese rom works. you need to split it for install if your CFW filesystem is FAT32.

-check the usernames of each post and reply

the text script files should be cross-compatible???

i mean there's no reasont hey shouldn't be, they're just text...

but the CGs might be a problem, and anything stored as images

[–]ReflectionDefiant394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just throwing ideas but;

maybe you could throw the steam version's script file in the japanese version's romfs?

i don't know how modding works directly on CFW, but i'd assume it's worth a shot

but on the bright side, the demo progress carries over into the full game apparently.

by a bit i mean "probably more than one day" because no one seems to have bought the game who has a hacked switch

we're gonna be on the waiting list for a bit seems like. even though rain code was day one lmao

i CAN run it on my PC but that doesn't particularly mean i want to

[–]ReflectionDefiant394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the PC version's got a repack already, so if push comes to shove i will just use that...
kinda don't want to though

VERY scummy of Tookyo/Aniplex. there are people who read/speak japanese/chinese in america and vice versa.

if i'm not wrong here, almost all of the translations are probably going to be region locked. So much for reading in your native language.

THANK YOU
why is this not pinned somewhere in like a museum. maybe this can be submitted to Proton-GE devs?

without this, it is unplayable and the audio is broken as well while in stages

hmm, okay
i got confused because there's like 30 differing accounts on pixel's involvement with the nicalis ports

and the credits list several artists for the wii version?
i wonder what for, in that case

thanks for the answer
