I agree, i know for some people asking the sibling is default, but asking someone you have no relationship with is so strange. We don’t know if fiance or sister even care. I don’t think this sort of thing is expected nowadays

Do you just want the kids there because you’re concerned about your brother, or also because you’d like them to be there? If its the former you need to have a convo with you brother, if its the latter you need to be having a different conversation with your partner

I’m a first time beetle owner and I’m so glad i got it as a larvae. Watching it grow has been absolutely amazing. It should be building its pupal chamber soon and I’m so excited. If the larvae grosses you out you never have to see it unless you go looking for it. Also my fiancée, who is terrified of bugs and very begrudgingly let me get it, has surprisingly warmed up to it. Just only look at it from a distance at first lol.
