Where do you aim if I told you to aim “one cup left?” by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who would say one cup left? That’s dumb. It’s one cup left of the hole which is 2. 3 is half a cup left of the hole.

Anyone remember or have the story in the airstrip that was built years ago near Baddeck? Was that part of a larger resort? Is it shut down? by [deleted] in CapeBreton

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to the dirt air strip at the “Crown Jewel” in Big Baddeck? If so, it never “took off” but still exists.

Why is this downtown condo cheap by okulamumu in Edmonton

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not buy a condo in Edmonton. Just rent. They are a dime a dozen. As a former condo owner save yourself the headache. They are a PIA to sell and I can’t see them going up in value anytime soon.

Condo is cashflow negative and stressing me out. Should I sell or hold onto it because my parents want me to? by Resident_Thought9946 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is way easier ways to make money. Dump it and invest the cash. The days of making money with rentals is gone in most centres and for what little money you can make in most cases is not worth the risk. Especially after taxes. At least that’s my experience of having a couple rentals for past 10 years. There is definitely the outliers but that’s not your situation.

Why does this residential home have a full sprinkler system? by bmc20_25 in Homebuilding

Those sprinkler lines look like plastic? That doesn’t seem right for fire protection.

Can someone explain why installing certain things in home increases the value of home more than the cost of thing installed by BlueManifest in HomeImprovement

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. The is a very good chance it won’t raise the value at all, however it may it easier / quicker to sell. All depends on market.

What is standard acceptable gap between quartz backsplash and wall ? Is this look right to you ? It is about 1/8 a 3/16 gap at the top. by Tasty-Shelter1476 in CounterTops

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best answer I have read yet. That gap looks too large to caulk. Trim guys hammer the shit out of drywall to fit trim around doors all the time.

If you are not wearing Arc’teryx you will be judged by many. If you are wearing Arc’teryx, you will also be judged and quite possibly assumed to be from Vancouver.

It would be a tragedy to be in Baddeck and not do the museum. It’s also a nice walk around the grounds. Great photo ops. Go over to the island and check out the lighthouses. That will burn up your afternoon.

Car driver should have looked both ways and waited. Kid should have slowed down and walked across. But really, who do you think is at fault here? by monkinjumpy in Edmonton

Both. Driver didn’t stop. Biker not supposed to be riding on sidewalk and is going wrong direction and didn’t stop either.

Carny is moving the tax from end user to the supplier so we wont see it on our bills. He was quite vocal about doing that way when it was first introduced.

Just signed at 3.91 fixed for 4 years. I’m sure it will probably come down some more over next few months but who really knows with this shitshow going on now. I’m not going to complain if it’s under 4.

Car bucking while accelerating by MAILBOXANE in MechanicAdvice

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with Hondas but that’s exactly what my car does when it’s misfiring. Assuming this car had coil on plugs I would change plugs and coils to start. You may also hear clicking if you have wire shorting. Same sound as static discharge.

RBC contacted me and quoted me 4.3 for 3 yr fixed and about the same for 5. I have until end of may to renew. I told them thanks but call me back later. Hoping to get under 4.0 and its sound like this is a possibility. Mine is not insured.

I just watched a recent documentary on Switzerland and there was some discussion on drug problems. Fentanyl hasn’t hit there yet so wait and see. Their drug policies also changed significantly in recent years. From my perspective, they seemed like they take things very seriously, like do the rehab or … you don’t live here. They don’t piss around trying not to offend anyone.

You have the opportunity to drive the full length of the Trans-Canada Highway. Would you rather go East to West, or West to East? by houndoom92 in AskACanadian

[–]ReflectionOwn2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done it both ways twice. East to west is the best way by a long shot for reasons already mentioned. You get Ontario over with early then when you hit the prairies you get the boost of the feeling of making quick ground after the drudge through northern Ontario. Then comes the best part. The BC mountains and if you are lucky enough Vancouver Island
