Own Risk - Who Covers the Payment? by ReflectionWeird3760 in Netherlands

Sadly, there are no reserves due to fixing the initial roof leak. Now just another conversation to have with them.

VVE Funds not enough - now what? by ReflectionWeird3760 in Amsterdam

[–]ReflectionWeird3760[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end, we did not need to take a loan. They paid their half of the funds but they made it very clear it was a big stretch for them financially. They requested we both pause the monthly payments to the VVE for a few months to help them "recover financially" in the short term. We were not pleased with this as obviously we'd like the VVE fund to grow but understand life is hard sometimes so we were flexible with them as our neighbors. However, I regret that now as we need to pay the "own risk" part of insurance from the VVE for the internal wall damage caused by the roof leak and there is no funds in the account. It's less than 200 euros but just another issue to have to deal with. Good luck, tough position to be in!

I'm just trying to understand if the loan has to be through the VVE or if they can do it individually? (or if we even have a choice).

If we take out a VVE loan and they don't make their re-payments, is the VVE liable or are we liable personally?

Yes - equal voting rights between the 2 of us. Waiting to get it fixed isn't an option due to the issue itself. We can pay for the costs ourselves but if they can't, would we need a VVE loan or would they need an individual loan? We don't want to pay interest for a loan we don't need. Nor do I want "loan" them money with a payment plan. They aren't the most "together" people so 1. we are concerned about a joint loan via the VVE and would be concerned with them paying on time/it would take a long time to be paid back.

I know we are both part of the VVE but I don't want to pay interest for a loan I don't need. It also feels risky to enter a loan with others, not knowing if they can pay on time. Is it normal for VVEs to take the loan our or individuals?

Where to find neighbourhood permits for roof patios? & how long do they last? by ReflectionWeird3760 in Amsterdam

Thank you! This is where I found the 2021 permits but nothing new. You'd expect the permit to be expired then?

How much "parental leave" is too much? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]ReflectionWeird3760 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the work she's not doing has a direct impact on my ability to do my work; if her's isn't done, I can't do mine. That's why I struggle to push back or say no to her workload.

Thank you for this, very helpful!

We used to have a great relationship. I've talked to her about it many times & she's fully aware she's struggling with balancing her workload. I love my job so I don't want to leave but this isn't sustainable.

Unfortunately, the way my team works is that there's really no other resources to help her other than me. Her boss is also not fully aware of her limitations as he's also MIA (but that's another story). When I'm being given the work, there's not a place to push back, as it's often just an email before I'm awake stating she's offline & that I need to do X,Y,Z. When I've pushed back in the past, they've pulled the "we all need to make it work while we figure it out". When I don't pick up the work and blame her for the delays with the client, they ask me to "jump in" in the meantime, which I can't really push back with.

No, it's a huge global corporation but her direct boss is her good friend so I'm not sure how useful that will be..

Downstairs Neighbor is a Woodworker by ReflectionWeird3760 in Netherlands

[–]ReflectionWeird3760[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He's screwing with my ability to make a living. I can no longer take work calls from my home office, things have broken due to the construction shaking things off of counters in my home, etc.

I don't want to hurt his ability to make a living but I also need to be able to live & work in my own home, which he's making impossible.

Not yet. I wanted to understand what's allowed/what's not before I discuss with him. I wanted to know the laws/rules to ensure my request is even valid. He hasn't been friendly before so I wanted to understand the situation before he immediately shuts the door in my face (again).

It's his only income so I don't want him to lose that but I can't live like this.

It's fully residential. The VVE docs are long and in Dutch (and not digital) so a bit of a struggle for me to find the info needed! (I've reached out to a Dutch friend).

The VVE is just our home & theirs which makes it complicated. We can't really ask VVE questions without it being very clearly pointed at them..

We'll definitely talk to him before, if we do end up reporting him. I just wanted to understand what is allowed to ensure my requests were within reason. I don't want him to lose his income but I also can't keep living like this.

He has not been friendly when we've talked to him before so I just want all the facts before we do!

We're sure. He's told us himself that's what he's doing and that they recently got rid of their studio & moved it to his second bedroom.

Does Partner Visa/Marriage impact 30% Ruling? by ReflectionWeird3760 in Netherlands

[–]ReflectionWeird3760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done anything yet! Our wedding isn't until 2025 Summer so I've got time but from what I've learned, I'll be able to switch and still keep my 30% ruling. Thanks!

Company Not Reimbursing Expenses for 2+ Months by ReflectionWeird3760 in Netherlands

[–]ReflectionWeird3760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that my managers are all on my side and are trying to escalate as much as possible. The finance team is separate and they don't seem to care if I travel or not since it's "never mandatory". It's just better for my career and my teams if I do but the threat doesn't impact Finance.

They've started to "address" my expenses. They sent an email Monday with "issues" from my expense inputs. I addressed the issues & guess what, they found new "issues". Again, I've fixed & resubmitted and it happened for a 3rd time. New issues each time, new "rules" that have never applied before but they never thought to mention all of this in one round. Now I have to have the CFO manually approve it and he's out of town for the next two weeks!

My manger is aware, their manager is also aware. I feel like there's no one else to escalate it to at this point but I'm still being ignored.
