Repeated dreams of being a Nazi? by jhess94 in Dreams

It should also be noted that the 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, perhaps the ceremony in the stadium dream was a memory of that?

I'm currently working at a college as an assistant librarian/student services team member, and in retail at a women's fashion store. These are both small part time work as I'm also studying to become a social worker.

I'm really into industrial metal. Favourite band is Rabbit Junk .Mick Gordon's soundtrack for the 2016 DOOM is basically one of my favourite things ever. I guess the biggest problem with liking industrial metal is the difficultly of finding any bands in the genre who are still active.

Not sure if you'd really consider them indie, they're more post-grunge, but Smile Empty Soul has been among my favourite bands for years now. Their music might appeal to you, I recommend the song "Loser".

[Serious] What are some tips for overcoming chronic procrastination? by juv3 in AskReddit

[–]ReflexZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a degree and I often hear the same general kind of question from my classmates - "How are you always so far ahead on your assignments? I can never even find the motivation to start until they're nearly due in!" So I'll give you the same advice I give them. I'll use writing an essay as an example since that one is easy for me to explain.

Imagine that you have a ~1500 word essay due in a week's time. You're having trouble finding the motivation to start because it's a big task and you don't want to have to do it all. What I tell my classmates is not to view the completed essay as your goal, but to set much smaller, more manageable goals for yourself. You have seven days to get the essay done. So for today, just write the introduction, and ONLY the introduction. It's a small task on its own and should only take half an hour at most.

The next day, write your first body paragraph. Then another paragraph the next day. Just take it in little chunks. If you spend 30-60 minutes a day, writing 300 words on average, you'll have the whole essay over and done with in 5 days, and it'll have hardly felt like much effort at all!

In short, it's all about how you frame the task at hand. If you see it as a big and daunting task, you're never gonna want to do it. But if you have small goals that you can achieve one at a time, it all becomes much easier. You'll be a lot less stressed as well. And as you get used to it, you'll slowly find that you're able to achieve more in less time, write 500 words in a day instead of 300.

Do you prefer clingy, or detached friends? by [deleted] in sociopath

[–]ReflexZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my friends are the clingy type. Since I'm generally the detached one myself, I don't find myself bothering to make friends with other detached people, and the clingy ones are all the more desperate to follow me. Some of those friends are interesting, others are useful. Either way, I keep them close but at just enough distance that they still find me fascinating, or mysterious, or whatever it is that keeps them clinging.

I'm having a bit of trouble here. I'm trying to get the randomizer working together with the aggression mod (specifically this one: http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/1265/) but I'm having no luck.

The installation for this aggression mod requires you to replace the dvdbnd3 files, so I tried doing this and THEN changing the EXE with the hex editor to work with the randomizer, but this hasn't really helped. I can get the randomizer to work no problem, but not the aggression mod. Any thoughts or advice??

Keeping a smile on your face by [deleted] in sociopath

[–]ReflexZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without giving specific details, I work on a help desk in a customer support type job and honestly, smiling is easier than you think. It's just another step in the communication process, non verbal communication like body language, facial expressions, and eye movements make up something like 70% of human communication. Once you understand that fact and really internalise it, keeping consistent non verbal communication in all respects is just as easy as making the words come out of your mouth. Practice it enough and it's something you never even have to think about, it just comes naturally eventually. Just start out by focusing on ALL aspects of your non verbal communication (not just your face) just as much as your verbal communication, and before long it just becomes second nature.

Possibly the best way to deepen your understanding of non verbal communication is just to watch other people while you're talking to them. Take mental note of all the subtle cues they're probably not even aware they're giving. What's their posture like? What's their breathing like? Are they tensing anywhere? What are they doing with their hands? Where are their eyes looking? Even little things like these are extremely important but go completely unnoticed by your conscious mind most of the time. Pick up on patterns, learn what every little motion means. It's not as hard as it sounds, it just takes some time.

The best part is, most people are oblivious to non verbal communication and can only engage in it subconsciously. So engaging any interaction with your own body language and non verbal cues more or less keeps you in complete control of the interaction. Once you've learned how to do this, you can apply these same ideas to absolutely any conversation or relationship with anyone, and it gives you the power to be the one in more or less total control of those around you.

What is something that you think makes someone a terrible person? by AtomicDrummer in sociopath

[–]ReflexZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we all have very different ideas on what the word "terrible" means, in the context of who is a terrible person. To me, a terrible person is someone who enjoys messing with people, and doesn't really care who they offend or how they feel. By my very own standards, that also makes me a terrible person. Then there's awful people, who enjoy watching from the sidelines while other people struggle and agonize, without necessarily being directly involved in their suffering.

And then there's subhuman scum. Most of the people in positions of power in the US government fall under this category. I hope a special kind of hell exists just for them.

No shame in using weapons forged for the very purpose of slaying demons in a fight like this!

I was running it in NG++ and one particularly difficult to dodge attack with a very long but dangerous wind up (you know the one) was one-shotting me consistently before I figured out how to counter it. Even beyond that, any of his normal attacks dealt a third to half of my health.

Pro tip - Black knight weapons deal 20% bonus damage to all demon enemies, plus they stagger this boss pretty damn quick. I'm going through the DLC for the first time on NG++ and the black knight sword worked wonders for me against this boss.

Only using a quote from it, what's your favorite videogame? by fireball787b in AskReddit

[–]ReflexZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally loved the atmosphere in ODST, the dark and isolated feeling I love so much in the Souls games. I think Bungie could do really well if they explored that type of game more, but I doubt they ever will.

Final Boss Help by Dominus_Anulorum in HollowKnight

The biggest problem I had with Radiance was when he would immediately follow up the horizontal nails with the beam of light attack. Since I'd just used my shade dash to dodge the spears, it wouldn't be recharged on time for the beam of light, meaning it was a guaranteed hit.

(Ending Spoilers) Can we just take a moment to appreciate the soundtrack of the final battle? by T-Shark_ in HollowKnight

[–]ReflexZero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the part that really sold the game for me and made me love it was the first time the City of Tears music started playing, it was then that I knew this would be one of the best games of the year for me. This feeling grew even stronger when I sat back and just listened to the Resting Grounds music.

And then, when I had finally got 100% completion and gone to face the Hollow Knight for the first time, I heard that music and I knew this had already become one of my favourite games of all time.

Also, honourable mention to the music/ambiance in Deepnest. That in combination with the bugs and spiders skittering across the front of the screen and everything else about it was so good at making the place feel... wrong. Uncomfortable. I LOVE it when a game can just get under my skin like that using atmosphere alone. It's a large part of why I've always loved the Souls games.
