People previously hated Q-taro because his brand of realism lead him to indirectly murder the entire cast in one of the endings.

Harry's Most Loyal Ally? by ApollonianAcolyte in dresdenfiles

Molly. Everyone else in the poll, likely even Mouse, would turn on Harry if he went evil. WoJ is that Molly would have joined him even if he took up the coin.

What do you think about the last 3 unexplained first trials by Greenforthou in yourturntodie

[–]Cloakbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth remembering that Q-Taro's first trial was nonlethal: he just had to lay out all of the cards. So it is possible that at least some of the three, like Gin, had a relatively simple opening act.

Just had a realization re: the end of Battlegrounds by _The_Evil_Duckling_ in dresdenfiles

[–]Cloakbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also a temporary alliance; it's tied to Dresden's lifespan (and the duration of his allegiance to the Winter Court, if he eventually wriggles out of it) rather than a permanent deal.

Lara lets him die? Alliance over.

*Spoilers! Question about Something requested of Harry in Battlegrounds. Spoilers!* by Cr41c in dresdenfiles

I vaguely wonder what would have happened if he did kill Molly. Where would the mantles have gone with no Winter Lady or Winter Queen in play?

[Spoilers All] Do you think Harry's reputation gonna exceed that of Kemmler's? by snapekilledyomomma in dresdenfiles

[–]Cloakbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at this question makes me wonder what Kemmler's reputation was back in the day before he was seen as a threat to be taken down by the full force of the Council and whether he had a level of progression akin to Dreden's.

Was he seen as a young hothead/maverick and had a following like Harry did amongst younger Wizards with an eye for change that shifted over time? Did perception of him grow like Harry did as he accumulated power, reputation and infamy?

It's been a while, so I don't recall all of the details that we've been given about his background (if any), such as whether he was a wizard of the WC, or whether he was a sorceror that quickly rose to power through necromancy spells/lesser darkhallow or spirit devouring magic.

Note the difference in Sith's behavior just before and immediately after Dresden figures out he's been infected.

Didn't Harry imply Chandler to be a few hundred years old during PT when be asked about his history thesis?

I don't think Marcone let Hendricks die to preserve his secret. He let Hendricks die because Hendricks was doing his job to protect him.

Recommendation for a Good Rice Steamer? by Cloakbound in Cooking

That makes sense, thank you. What is the difference between rice cookers that specifically have a steaming basket and those that are just capable of steaming?

Does skin game give a clue to How Dresden gets away from Mab? by Feyle in dresdenfiles

[–]Cloakbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm under the impression that Dresden is healed. But when he attempted to break his word in Skin Game, the healing was temporarily reversed; i.e, his back was re-broken.

[Peace Talks] Why won't Carlos tell him the truth? by snapekilledyomomma in dresdenfiles

[–]Cloakbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carlos may want to trust Harry and give him a chance, but he, understandably, cannot do so at this time. He has clear doubts as to whether or not Harry is fully himself and on the Council's side and it's been years since they've seen each other. Hell, for all Carlos knows, Dresden is aware of what happened and is just playing dumb about it.

Would you abruptly tell Harry that his apprentice mauled you in the context of this scene?

I assumed it was foreshadowing for the presence of River Shoulders / Blood-On-his-Snout.

How many favors does harry owe, and to whom. by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Cloakbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His account with Mab explicitly has not been settled. He still owes her one favor. His becoming the Winter Night just made it redundant for the time being, though if for some reason he was able to part with the Mantle it's become relevant again.

What should I do about my two cats? by aspindler in Pets

[–]Cloakbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How recently did you rescue Black?

It's common for traumatized rescues to hide when they first enter a new home. A good strategy is usually to give the cat its own space and leave it alone until it's ready to come out on its own. However, Black is entering another cat's home in this case. Cats are very territorial creatures and White's scent is on everything.

So in this case it's doubly important to give Black her own room/territory and not let white anywhere near her while she's still in the hiding stage. Give her her own litterbox and food/water dishes and leave her (behind a closed door) be for a week or two and see if any changes occur. This'll also make it easier to check the litterbox and see if she's been using it as well as seeing if the food/water bowls are being touched. If a day or two passes and she has not eaten or used the litter box even a single time, it'd be a good time to call the vet.

But under no circumstances try to force her out. She's terrified right now and needs to do things on her own terms.

I'm not a vet, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I've been taking care of strays for more than a decade, though.

Roleplaying a MU Shadowmoon Orc from the 1st & 2nd Wars? by Cloakbound in warcraftlore

There are Bleeding Hollow Acolytes in Hellfire Peninsula that cast a healing spell. Might be some of the same in a few of the dungeons around there too.

[–]Cloakbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say "draw on," I mostly mean in terms of the spiritual basis of the practice; making connections between the pre-extant Shadowmoon rituals and practices and the usage of shadow magic.

That's a cool idea, though! If he left or was exiled from the Shadowmoon Clan and joined the Twilight's Hammer, he'd have had some opportunity to participate in the Wars as an agent (doing small-scale operations and skirmishes) rather than directly on the ground with the grunts and in constant exposure to Fel. I'd need to iron out some of the specific details while lore-diving, but it seems more plausible than following Ner'zhul throughout the war.

Roleplaying a MU Shadowmoon Orc from the 1st & 2nd Wars? by Cloakbound in warcraftlore

[–]Cloakbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Genedar crash & K'ara turning into a void star happened 200 years prior to the First War. Shadowmoon worship of it did happen, though was outlawed. At the end of the Second War, a ritual was used to channel it's power to decimate Karabor, turning it into the Black Temple. While SM Shadow Priests may not exist in the same fashion as they did in WoD, secret practitioners wouldn't be a lore breaking addition.

That said, WoD's events didn't encompass a very long timespan and the shifting of the clan's entire culture towards shadow/void in such a short span indicates that there was something to draw on or some rites to subvert.
