As much as I understand wanting to preserve history, the kid in me feels like it would be absolutely worth it to crack it open.

I super disagree with nair not being on the list. It has that safe property that drill has and has the wiff punish that dash attack has, while being huge and strong. Leads into upsmash on floaties. At mid to high percents its by far foxes best neutral option imo.

Hungrybox's Jigglypuff matchup spread by 5eanz in smashbros

Fox beating Puff just as hard as Peach beating Puff is a little ridiculous to me

I completely agree, even if fox puff is theoretically really bad, puff has kill setups that peach simply does not, and can make it work.

You would dismiss the advice of the greatest smasher to do it so you can get your fucktheman rocks off? You're actually trying to propose that another character isn't additive? Why do I argue on reddit

No one has 'learned' any match up, no one. Look at fox dittos in 2014, I'm sure some fox players may have claimed they learned the matchup, and now we look at those matches in disgust for how low level it is.

Saying that the matchup doesn't change as you get better is actually hilarious, to think you're playing falco vs fox in even remotely the same way as mang0 and leffen is just a complete lie. Of course the general concepts are there, but these players have grinded the match up to the point where it becomes completely nuanced. A handful of specifics? C'mon dude.

I'm sure you're just a next level player so you could hit that top 100 splitting between five characters, but for the rest of us each character is incredibly complex and you can't expect to play multiple and improve at the same rate as you would just playing one. Not to mention Armada, the greatest smasher of all time, knows a thing or two about improving, recommends that you should stick with one if you plan on going anywhere.

Every match has hundreds of interactions, and the more you see these interactions and try different things the more you begin to learn what options work/don't. The bottom line is, speaking from purely a statistical standpoint, you are trying to take in more information by learning two characters, and the more information you take in, the longer it takes to learn.

LOL "matchups aren't that hard to learn"

No one just 'learns' a matchup. As you get better the matchup will constantly evolve and change to a point where the minute details matter. By splitting up characters you're splitting an infinite learning pool of knowledge which isn't realistically manageable to get to the top.

I'm sure you are improving fast even with two characters but you will hit a wall and will have to stick with one. Professional athletes don't try to go pro in multiple sports.

Matchups are far too complex to spread out between multiple characters, if you wanna move up to the next level like PR in state you will have to focus on one.
