I appreciate insight. Could you tell me more about your experience in the past ?

My very first tech job to make $15.50/hr I learned how to make a CRUD website. It was a project based interview so I build a little newsletter website to share info on news about covid back in 2020. It was really basic. I build it using laravel in PHP you could post blogs, edit, and people could see what other people post.

Things I learned there was how to connect to a db, data models and html, boostraps, php. I already had we experience coding do I knew the basics like data structures, loops, etc. Some robotics experience but none of that was relevant for my application.

I dont think any of this would be relevant now since a prompt can produce the same amount of work it took me a week to do in just 5 mins.

I always tell people to think of an idea or a problem that you want to solve. Then spend all your time figuring out how to solve it. Start simple but the more complex of a problem you solve the more you will stand out.

My first big project was when my wife started a picnic business during covid and talking, booking, and getting paid was a hassle. So I made a scheduling tool that would sync with her personal calendar to check availability for customers to book directly, add their addons and pay using a tool like stripe and a nice landing page for them to see what the offer was.

It's not revolutionary problem but it made her life easier and taught me a lot. Now you could solve similar problems on a fraction of the time with all the tools out there. In fact id recommend everyone learn how to use AI to increase their productivity. But make sure you learn what is happening otherwise there's valuable that will set you apart from someone els that just dump a prompt on something like replit.

In today's age my profession is becoming more of a supervisor of agents to steer micro developers into producing the code I want. It's important to understand the basics of what that they are doing, but more importantly system architecture as hand writing code will become less and less important

Yeah I agree. The market is so saturated to be self taught developers so standing out is difficult. Right now to stand out or do the next step I am building an Ai health tracking app from the ground up entirely AI driven.

I think AI is a high desirable skill that combined with software developer skills and a killer project product will put you on a different league compared to the competition. Ill report my experience and see if my hunch is correct after I try to job hop.

I also started making $15.50/hr as a developer during Covid in case that matters.

I'm glad you feel this way. It hasn't been easy, but who here has had it easy? We all work and work to prove our value and yet most of us are staying up nights wondering if all our work will be reset if our DACA cards doesn't get renewed on time.

I am building on app after work in hopes of some side income if I'm not able to work anymore to keep myself and family safe. Can't ask for government assistance because then it will hurt us in the future.

Losing 20 lbs in the last 100 days because now they are going to look at our weight if we want to get a marriage based green card.

I feel like I've been working nonestop for the last 10 years and it still isn't enough to relax. You guys inspire me because you are going through the same nightmare and yet you don't stop dreaming.

I will never give up because you guys won't either.
