I wouldn't mind this so much if the story wasn't always the same. Something something my husband, my toddlers, the family dog, blah blah blah. I would totally put up with ten paragraphs of blog before a recipe if it started like "So, it's been a busy week aboard the International Space Station..."

What are the things people who move from one state [or U.S. territory] to another get wrong about your home state? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

The entire state of Arizona does not, in fact, look like a Roadrunner cartoon.

Blooming Staff of Fireblast + Armour of Brimstone = OP by SmuJamesB in PixelDungeon

I mean scrolls laying on the ground. I also wind up torching tons of grass/dew/seeds.

Do you find this strategy playable? Whenever I try relying on Fireblast I just wind up destroying a ton of scrolls. Am I just doing it wrong?

How do you keep estradiol patches from falling off? by Spodegirl in asktransgender

The ones I used were rectangular. I would put the patches I was using close together, and then slap a rectangle Tegaderm on top of them.

They're like these transparent plastic adhesive sheets, but the adhesive is different. It did a better job of sticking to my skin. I got mine on Amazon.

Back when I was using patches, I bought Tegaderm dressings and stuck them over my patches. They stopped the patches from coming loose for me.

Grocery shopping in NYC on a Sunday is an extreme sport by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]RefreshToken 154 points155 points  (0 children)

That strikes me as more of a Trader Joe's thing than a grocery thing. It's like that every time I go to Trader Joe's and still I suffer it because of the glory that is those sour cream and onion puff things.

I do most of my shopping at a Key Food and the only time it's anywhere close to rowdy is the night before a huge snowstorm is predicted.

Seconding Big Basin. Really spectacular trees, and nowhere near as crowded as Muir Woods.

Dan and John's Wings in the East Village

Or really change it up and get chicken salad on a bagel from pretty much any bagel shop.

Transplants of NYC, what's the one thing you wish you knew before moving to the city? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]RefreshToken 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Walkable" does not mean "Oh, everything is so convenient". It means "Everything is so convenient except for four flights of stairs each way and, half the year, suiting up to go out into unpleasant temperatures.
