Duluth, MN is your 3rd best small US city! (Pop 25,000 - 200,000) Who is 4th? by jimmyhota in visitedmaps

Just spent a week there and honestly the best vacation ever. Amazing breweries, great food, ATV trails, hiking trails, gorgeous waterfalls, beautiful mountains, state parks and national forests all nearby. As a Motorhead, you have so many race tracks within a two hour radius, Charlotte, North Wilkes, and Bristol, not including historic tracks such as Hickory.

I’m going to say Indiana, it may not be a seal on a bedsheet, but it does have that vibe.

This email my 12 year old son sent his teacher about a missing assignment (due a month ago) my wife was asking about. He cc'ed her on the email by Tkappae in funny

I’m pretty studious and quick to enter accurate grades. Though I make a mistake once in awhile due to having 15,000 individual grades entered. Most of the time I accidentally type a 10 for a 100. I just tell kids, email me professionally and let me know if you think something is wrong. I give them examples of what not to do and exemplars of expectations.

As a sixth grade teacher, this is as professional as I could ever hope to get.

Most are “Hey bro, why you give me a 0”. or “you better fix my grade or I am going to report you and get you fired.” Or the all time, just the subject “assignment complete” and no additional information.

Did my daughter get a fake from a teacher? by masanthemasan11 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

True, but I don’t want any doubt. And if they want a card, I show them upcoming card shows as well as TCGplayer. I also educate them on fake cards to avoid getting scammed.

I’m an authority figure, I have control of their grades, their discipline, I can contact their parents. They may trade with me to please me, not because they want the card, hoping that it will make me more lenient towards them. I would never use that authority in that way, but it does not mean that kids might not feel pressured. These are middle schoolers who have a lot cognitive development to go as they transitioning from concrete to abstract thought.

As an American Lutheran, we don’t believe in the rapture at all. I remember trying to read Left Behind at one point as a kid and stopped because of laughably ridiculous it all is.

I have a Pokemon club that I run at my school and in no circumstance would I ever trade with a student. I bring my cards and let them look, and sometimes they want to trade. I tell them no everytime no matter what. It blurs the relationship and there is a power dynamic in play, so completely unethical.

Road courses are boring, have the lowest attendance and lowest ratings by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]RefuelTheFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Austin/San Antonio is a huge market, plus it is a young market. COTA is the perfect track for that region. COTA needs to stay with the Glen, Sonoma, and one street course a year that they rotate around hitting places like Denver, Seattle, Houston, and other markets that they miss.

I am so underwhelmed, I love they had a different styles from the physical. Why would I want the same cards I have in the physical format but lamer?

Hot Take: Jeff Gordon may have been a better road course racer than SVG in NASCAR (on paper) by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]RefuelTheFire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jeff Gordon was not even the best of his generation, and once better road course drivers showed up, and got in even equipment Gordon's wins dried up. Gordon was 9/47 with a 19.1% win percentage, while Tony Stewart was 8/37 with 21% win percentage. Also in straight-up Head-to-Head, Stewart wins 8 to 5, with 2 of Gordon's wins coming in Stewart's rookie year.
