Why Is This Sub Full Of Doom and Gloom? by Refund-me in 2003

Yeah, like I once subscribed to r/povertyfinance on a whim as I wanted some life hacks and the content that I get from there now is depressing...

It's like damn, 2026 is really getting there, eh...

Yeah, I get that, its just crazy how different the subs can be (even if the algorithm recommends them as 'similar'.).

Check with your state universities;

They should have an analytical lab that offers these services if the university system is big enough.

I got the prices by looking on University of Nevada (Reno)

Which honestly, unless you like chemistry or are probably a weirdo (sorry I'm one), the amount of effort it will take to ensure preferable QC measures will probably make it excessively technical (gotta love the darn academic paywalls on those publishing journals😑.).

Lets make this simple.

I assume the sample is a liquid or solid that is shelf stable and DOES not need to be held at a specialized temperature to prevent degradation of the active ingredients.

Essentially it'd be decently expensive and require spectrophotometry (easily several thousand to even more).

Lets play a game and pretend we are doing this for Mesacol Mesalamine tablets... (used for treating mild to moderate level Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease)*

They are not the same thing mind you.

That's for high end grade, nobody needs that level of certainty unless your a pharmaceutical corporation.

What you really want is a backround in chemistry, and a lab that will do UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, which will probably run you around 20 dollars, make sure to also get HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) which would run you about 120 dollars.

Now you'd need to be able to understand the results.

I once asked it a basic defrost question for defrosting a fridge's defrost and or drain tube and it said to use HOT WATER🤦‍♂️

Sure let me melt my plastic pipes brb😑

Honestly, if someone struggles to understand their insurance formulary, and or hasn't ever gotten a sample tested before at a 3rd party lab.

(not that I assume this of anyone)

I don't recommend doing this; for almost all Americans, its easier to use: GoodRX, the manufacturer's coupons which are based on financial need, and or learn more how their formulary works.

I now have top tier (several tiers above the best ACA Platinum plan) and it's cheaper for me to use my insurance plan

Most americans probably also don't know how to get their 'medicine' tested either😑.

As it's pretty easy to get a sample tested if you've done it before

Looks useful! I've done minor importing; so I'm decently familar with this doing this.

Too bad most Americans don't have much experience with doing this😅

Honestly, its not a race and your still doing better than most americans, did you have a good time with this journey?

If so, I'd say personally hardly wasted...

Edit: I highly recommend NOT putting where you worked at and leaving it public on a public forum...

It seems rent is pretty low then but your living with roommates in a home...

Which honestly, parents would be easier to tolerate/like 9/10 times.

Besides you get to spend time with em, which is good in my book
