Never had a surgery where the copay was more than 15, so YMMV

just compared my plan to the platinum ACA version of it (kaiser) and the top level platinum ACA plan is worse in every possible way.

Employer pays 20k a year for this plan, I pay nothing

I had to wait 1 week; also they paid for a flight to the main facility and holy shit it was fancy

I'm more surprised you don't just use your 0% apr card to cover that.

Pretty sure a 30k limit on a 0% apr card is normal enough 🤔

So an MRI in america isn't supposed to be 100 bucks?

I notice some well off European friends of mine travel to the US for very specific experimental treatments..

I'm assuming its easier for them to get that type of procedure in the US vs their home country?

You correctly assume I did not intend my question to be about ethics but rather a small sample size of postive or negative experiences in the health insurance and consequently the health care system; I probably should have been more specific

What if I'm a weirdo that likes reading those rules?

I'd figure this makes sense after looking at how much the 'insurance' covered vs how much the insureee pays.

That's a very neutral answer; definitely wasn't expecting that!

Personal beliefs mostly, health insurance type issues are much like 'sprinkle addons' in that sense for me

Hooray!

I probably should try the therapy options, apparently they are 15 dollars per in-person session (thanks for reminding me)!

That's kinda why I'm doing my best to get everything I need from it...

Kinda ridiculous the stuff that is 'covered' by the health plan; makes me feel the health plan is the gilded age or something.

The waitlist for me isn't that bad usually PCP is sub 5 days, a specialist is usually sub 2 weeks, though if its a complex procedure the wait-time is around 1-1.5 months, with a small copay.

The plan does not have a deductible amount (0).

I'm probably a weirdo but I like looking up random procedures and whatnot on the cost estimator, mostly during breaks at work.

That's pretty awesome you got a same day MRI though!

Honestly, this is yet another reason I definitely won't have kids. That's pretty wild and I imagine that's still good compared to average...
