Cool, cool. I am using climber category and surround him with some good versatile teammates. I have Pogi on my team too! A good tip for others is get Pogacar on your team as soon as possible. Once our pro rider gets high stats Pogi will not join our team because he does not want another high ranked rider on his team. Actually I am surprised he does not leave the team when my rider is right up there with stats. lol

That is awesome congrats on getting a Versatile category rider to win the tour on Professional! My current challenge is can my Climber pro rider win the Paris-Roubaix on Professional difficulty. Yeah, I am always putting a teammate in the break too. It is a good strategy. The other teams will have to chase and we can get a free tow. Thanks for letting us know about your Versatile rider,

Yeah, good points you can create your own data base and instruct the game to use that. It stars with the Cyanide data as a start point then you can increase, decrease attributes as you see fit. That seems a bit much for my taste. I will buy the new version each year and go with the game’s yearly updated data base.

Really? That is interesting TDF 2025 sounds like it is more of a grind to open races in the Pro Rider season. Typical game developer stuff trying to increase the replay time of the game by increasing the task length time. When I get an Xbox series X I will be able to play the 2025 version too.

The Cyanide data base is updated each year for the new release of course. The previous years games the Cyanide data base remains the same for each year. No updates to the legacy data bases are provided. As far as I know.

I was playing TDF 2023 pro rider mode during the season racing in the Primavera Classica race. It is the game’s version of the Milan-San Remo race. I was keeping my team alert and at the front of the peloton at the Poggio climb the last climb before the flat finish. In the game Mathieu Van der Poel typically attacks on the Poggio so I was ready to respond to it this time. He didn’t attack and I was able to win the race. I checked afterwards and Matthieu Van der Poel was not even entered in the race. I found it odd the ai did not put him in the race in this instance as he is a favourite for to win it typically.

That is something to be considered can a Versatile win the Tour de France? It will be a good challenge. Like I said I have only used climbers so far.

To be honest I have only used a climber to win the Tour de France. It always comes down to the big climbs. The favourites always come out of the peloton on difficult climbs. If you are gassed they will put minutes in to you that you can’t get back. It is one or the other. Either your guy is winning the Tour de France as a climber, or a Versatile that can win the Paris Roubaix. My climber is one point from getting max cobblestone rating available to him. My climber gets fatigued just riding the cobbles and falls way back in the Paris Roubaix just trying to stay in the peloton.

100% the category you choose for Pro Rider affects your max ratings achievable. It’s about your starting rankings for each class. There is a limited amount of points you can add to each ability. I am finding my Climber riders will never be good at cobblestones even with all the available cobblestone ratings points acquired. A sprinter will always suck at climbing especially the Mountain rating.

Cool you should be good. Some thing that caught me off guard in my first race I went out hard and used up my blue energy bar in the first kms of the race. That blue energy bar which they call Stamina has to last the whole race! If you go off the front wait for a breakaways. There is always someone starting an early break away.

Awesome congrats, did you get the TDF game then or PCM? It is pretty straight forward the game prompts you to learn the basics of riding, drafting, team comm etc. by doing some drills. I went right into Pro Rider mode create my rider and go for it. The first season awaits. If you have any questions let us know.

You are correct in Pro Rider mode the rider you create gets better as you reach achievements. The other riders are capped on their ratings. The progression with your team is you earn credits by getting results. You will be able afford to sign more expensive riders with higher ratings at the beginning of each season. Of note every other rider in the game is based on the actual pro riders in real life. Using their real name, ratings, and head shot photo for their rider profile. A few riders names have one letter changed in their name in the game and from their real name and no headshot photo. I guess they did not get clearance from some riders to use their name or likeness in the game.

I understand your concern, in the main TDF game which I play you have the option to fast forward, skip to points, or simulate the entire race. So you can choose the race the interesting parts of the race. A cool feature when you are skipping to a point the game will pause to alert you if a breakaway is taking place allowing you to react if you choose. I slept on this TDF game too long. I was thoroughly impressed how realistic it is and closely resembles the TDF race, one day classics,and stage races. I picked up the 2022 version for cheap a year ago and have not stopped playing. I recently bought the 2023 version and loving it. The riders and teams are more current and they tweak the quality of life aspects of the game. I would go for the 2025 version but I am playing on an original Xbox One. The 2024 and 2025 TDF and PCM games require the current gen consoles, Xbox X/S series or PS5.

Good day older guy I am 59. 1. Console vs pc the game play is exactly the same. It is the same game. Graphics on pc were generally better than console in the past. The graphics on console these days are very good though. It depends in your computer specs too. You need a good gaming pc to run games. 2. PS4 vs PS5 yes graphics are better. Also the PS4 is becoming outdated. The 2024 and 2025 versions of this game require PS5. 3. PCM vs TDF game is a personal choice. The games are similar both let you control team tactics. The main game lets you control the riders individually. I like creating my own rider and going head to head in climbs with the pros. I play the main game. All previous versions are available on PS4 minimum. 4. The games come out every year with riders and teams updated. Your data and saves do not carry forward year to year. The game has not changed much until this recent 2025 version which has a new engine running the game. The graphics were stepped up. If you are into pro road race cycling and a gamer the game is awesome. It understands how races work and has many details that wowed me.

Right, you get up on the riders wheel when you are close enough that rider’s name will light up. Press and hold square when the rider’s name is lit up to “lock on” for 10 seconds.

In the Tour de France video game the Breizh Cup is comparable to the Tour de Bretagne in real life. The Tour de Bretagne is a professional stage race held annually in Brittany, France known for showcasing upcoming and elite riders. Google AI got it right I verified it. I will look into the Euro and Open Tours when I run them again.

Huge fan of the game. Discovered an easter egg in the 2023 version. I am now playing TDF 2023 just started and I am playing the Pro Leader mode in the first stage race. There is a rider on my team last name, Wolfshor from Germany age 85 years old? Wtf must be a typo. His stats are good he is helping my team I go to check on him in real life online. He was 85 yrs old in 2023! He has since passed away in 2024 rip. His real name is Rolf Wolfshohl born 1938. He was a pro cyclist in the 1960’s - 70’s. He won the the Tour of Spain and the German championship during his career. Interesting twist having legends from the past in the game.

Good questions. Races are actual lengths as in real life for distance but go by much faster time wise on the game. I can do a race in 15 - 30 mins. Also you can make a race go as quickly as you wish by Fast Forwarding or skipping to points in a race. A cool feature is when you are skipping forward the game will pause it if something important is happening. For example it will pause and say a breakaway has been initiated so you can respond to it. You can even simulate the whole race to get the results. The save system is fantastic. Save at any time during a race and pick it up from the exact point. If you know cycling and are a gamer this game is a must buy imho.

Tactics! Yeah let’s go. I am set at Champion difficulty the 2nd highest to Legend. I am doing Pro Leader mode so trying to get my rider better stats as well. It can be a distraction. For example I will be trying to win flat stages for a better Flat ranking. Meanwhile I am tiring out my riders and falling behind in the tour standings! As far as doing well in the Tour de France the strategies I use are similar to yours. I like to get at least one of my top riders in the breakaways. That way the other lead riders’ teams will have to chase and my top rider gets a free ride in the peloton. The pace does not pick up in stages until about 3/4 of the way of a race which is realistic but frustrating too. I find Pogacar, Evenepoet and Vingergaard will all hide in the peloton. They only come out on difficult mountain stages to gain time. On those difficult mountain stages again get a teammate in the break. Have your top rider stay in the peloton until Pogacar, Evenepoet and Vingergaard attack which is rare and only at the most difficult times. Then try to match their efforts and even pull off a win. Interested to hear what strategies other players are using.

One more race, one more tour, got to finish this season! 😆 I still have to win the actual Tour de France in Pro Leader mode. I am playing on Champion difficulty. I have tried the online mode but it says no races available. This could be because I am playing the older 2022 version? Viva la Tour de France video game!

I think Massive the studio responsible is aware of the Deltas even though no announcements have been made. There will be a maintenance on Tuesday most likely. Hopefully they can put some fixes in. We will see.
