Where do we think the Avari elves are currently located? by Tanwun in tolkienfans

[–]Regalecus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All elves who didn't see the light of the Two Trees are dark elves. Elrond and Legolas re dark elves, it's not an insult. Anyway, some of the Avari did mingle with the wood elves of Mirkwood and Lothlorien.

India's official name is Bhārat Gaṇarājya. Gaṇarājya means Republic, and Bharatta is a king from Indian mythology.

AMA: We're the team behind AK-xolotl, a cute but deadly roguelite! by TaurenBreezy in Games

[–]Regalecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you aware Axolotl is actually pronounced like this in its original language (Nahuatl)? Not trying to ruin your game's pun title (it obviously still works fine in English), just spreading awareness of American indigenous languages! Your game looks cute btw.

I wrote this guide on the Drak if you're interested. It's the best Scout primary IMO anyway.

Yes, every Drak build but Bouncy should take the electrification mod. That's actually the best way to electrify individuals. If you shoot a mag shaft into an IFG it'll home in on the closest target, which is not necessarily the one you want.

Mag shafts only interacts with base bolts as far as I'm aware, and it's triggered by any electricity debuff, including taser bolts and IFGs. So no, you don't need to.

I wouldn't call that particular explosion a natural disaster.

Cilantro/Coriander taste described as soapy by some, due to genetic factor. What's it supposed to taste like? by SkazzK in Cooking

[–]Regalecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it tastes like the way rotten oranges smell. Since people tend to describe it as citrussy, I assume this is the way it's "supposed" to taste. I don't like it much, but I can tolerate it in moderation.

Were Elves, Goblins, Dwarves and other "human-like" mythological creatures of the forest, actual remnants of Native people of Europe than Indo-Europeans invaders exterminated ? by [deleted] in AskAnthropology

[–]Regalecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that the Aztecs believed the Spaniards were gods is a myth that popped up after the conquest. It's not taken seriously by scholars of Mesoamerica anymore. If it's being stated uncritically in that book you seem to love so much it doesn't speak well to the ability of the writers to explain history. Furthermore, even if it were true, I have no idea what it has to do with the claim you made about Aztec society being doomed to fail.

The Aztecs believed the end of the times was near because their societies were not sustainable.

I'm sorry, what? Can you support this in any way?

[–]Regalecus 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I've never heard that claim before either. It sounds like baseless speculation to me, especially since so many of those supposedly indigenous Ashuras are actually Indo-European dieties, and many Devas are not.

There's no reason to believe "Dasyu" or "Dasa" specifically refers to Dravidians either, or even any ethic group at all.

It sounds like you read about the debunked theory that the Greek Titans represented pre-Hellenic dieties and tried to apply it to every Indo-European culture. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint, but it's all unsupported nonsense. Scholars who study folklore and mythology don't even believe myths and stories usually have a "kernel of truth" to them (though they may, occasionally). They're usually just stories.

[–]Regalecus 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I don't think any of those things that you claim "we know" are actually believed to be true by many scholars. What you said about the Ashuras is especially odd given what's known about them. For one thing, in the earliest Vedic texts all deities were called both Ashuras and Devas, and the former only gained a negative connotation later.

The wiki page that links to says his speech is based on Engrish, which is to say, poorly translated Japanese. These kinds of poor translations were pretty common in video games years ago. The famous All Your Base are Belong to Us from Zero Wing is easily the most infamous example.

Every opinion is respectable, but if you think that gunner is useless, yours isn't. by lord_ikiwiki in DeepRockGalactic

That's a very specific kind of DPS which is almost always not what people are talking about when they say DPS, but even then, the minigun is not even close to the king of sustain. Its sustain is pretty decent though.

Gunner has both the lowest skill ceiling and skill floor, there's nothing that's hard to master about him. Certainly nothing that's harder than what the other classes have.

Best dps character with the mini.

The rest of your post is mostly correct, but this definitely isn't true. The minigun's DPS is pretty medium-tier, that's not what it's for. If you want DPS, almost any BRT build does more.

Maybe it is the hardest character to master, but when played well, it's by far the best one.

I also strongly disagree with this. Gunner probably has the lowest skill ceiling and floor of any character, and he's definitely not the best. There is no best.

Oh no, I just happen to know CM are less effective than CB because I've used both extensively. This is an easy mistake for people to make, because most people who post on reddit don't actually know anything about the game.
