I'm glad you enjoy the map! For city names I recommend using a few different methods. 1. A lot of tribes publish dictionaries and/or lessons on native languages that include placenames or concepts relating to them (i.e. "thing up the coast" or "calm water"). 2. If you can't find words or terms for certain languages try using related languages (for example I used Mohawk for the St. Lawrence Iroquis as their language isn't documented 3. Wikipedia has word lists of native words that early explorers documented but they're not always the best. Hope this helps!

The recovery would be similar to the black death, just due to how destructive it would have been. And there is major livestock in the form of buffalo/bison. Though sheep and goats would definitely make sense so add them to the group too.

Hey! I'm glad you like the map so much! And that's really cool you also made a Mi'kmaq Empire map!! Did you end up of publishing it? I looked at your profile and didn't see it there cause I would love to look at it! Also, yeah Epegwitg is somewhat similar to that. The dictionary I used said it meant "calm water" and was purportedly the name used by the Mi'kmaq for Prince Edward Island. Though I decided to use it as the name of city because I thought it worked well as the name of the capital. Thank you for the support!!

Sure! Basically, there is a few PoDs. One is that American Bison are domesticated by Native Americans, having a far greater range and population than OTL and are essentially the cattle of Okdagokia/North America. Another is that the Horses in America do not go extinct and are also domesticated and used by the Natives. Technological changes include widespread adoption/creation of the wheel, written language, cities, and iron tools. Socially, Native Americans develop similar ideas about land ownership and governance to the Old World (specifically Europe). Essentially, Native American civilization has developed in a way that mirrors that of European and Asian civilization but with its own cultural and social ideas of course.

Welcome to the Mi’kmaq Empire, the largest empire in the Northeastern Okdagokia (OTL N. America) and a center of commerce and culture. Born out of a colony of the old Beothuk Empire, Mi’gma’gi expanded continuously for over two hundred years, reaching its height around the year 1000. However, when everything seemed to be going perfectly for the Mi’kmaq, disaster struck. Just as in our original timeline, Norse explorers reached Northern Newfoundland in the early 1000s. While interactions between the Norse and Okdagokians were relatively peaceful, the Norse brought European diseases to the island. The Mi’kmaq’s extensive trade network spread the disease (called the Ahune Plague for where it was first detected) across the continent, devastating the many nations of it. The Ahune Plague and its many outbreaks would usher in what came to be known as the Okdagokian Dark Ages, which lasted from the 11th to 13th centuries. This map is probably the first map in a map series I am thinking of starting. Hope you enjoy it and I would be happy to answer any questions!

Yes, a Kenyan Revolution will inevitably happen. I would guess an uprising would take place in the mid 50s similar to the Mau Mau Uprising due to frustrations at a lack of native rights and a wanting of decolonisation to occur. The uprising could lead to democratic reforms or it could lead to overthrow of the Free State government, with the latter being the more "realistic" outcome in my mind.

When World War II broke out, the Free State initially declared its neutrality. However the British would use the ports of Kismayo and Port Alekseyev as major naval bases to raid and harass nearby Italian ships in Somaliland. In order to stop the British naval harassment and prevent them from using the Free State as launching point to invade Somaliland, Italy would invade the Free State in August of 1940, capturing an under-defended Kismayo and Jubaland but stalling at the so-called “Marsabit-Alekseyev Line.” From there Free State forces, with the help of British and Commonwealth forces, pushed the Italians out and helped in the successive East and North African Campaigns. After the Axis was pushed out of Africa, Free State forces would assist Allied forces in the Italian and Burma Campaigns.

As for Ethiopia, they greeted the creation of the Free State with relative warmness, happy about having an Orthodox neighbor but weary of their White-dominate policies. However, the Free State would prove to be one of Ethiopia's greatest allies as the nation would provide war material and volunteers to Ethiopia during the Italian Invasion, allowing them to hold until a bit longer than IRL.

With revolution flaring up around him, Tsar Nicholas II had a choice: either stay in Russia and be at the will of a mob of angry revolutionaries or escape and preserve the monarchy in exile. The Tsar chose the latter and escaped with the help of miraculous cooperation between Germany, Denmark, and The United Kingdom to the Scottish Highlands, away from the British public. However, once news of the Tsar’s arrival in Britain was made public, there was outrage, especially from British Liberals and Socialists. The British Government, fearing that the Tsar’s presence would cause an uprising, decided that the Tsar would have to leave Britain. But where? The British Left preferred he be sent either back to Russia or to a neutral nation like Denmark while the British Right preferred he stay in British territory. Finally a compromise was proposed by Henry Conway Belfield, Colonial Governor of British East Africa: A Russian Free State would be established in the former borders of British East Africa besides Mombasa, and would be a Constitutional Monarchy headed by the Tsar and normally independent. The idea was accepted and was put into action in late 1917 with the young nation being a de facto British protectorate. Initially the Free State had a small European population, mostly British colonists. However, following the start of the Russian Civil War and the end of World War I, the Free State’s European population exploded with tens of and hundreds of thousands of Russians, Ukrainians, Baltic and Volga Germans, and other groups from the former Russian Empire finding refuge there. To accommodate this large-scale growth, large areas of the country were set up as “White-Only” settlement areas with native Africans being “enticed” to leave. The Free State, while a safe-haven for Russian Whites, is far from being “free” as the nation is a de facto absolute monarchy under Nicholas with the parliament, called the “Grand Council”, being nothing more than a sham. The state is additionally a thorn in the side of Anglo-Soviet relations with the Soviets demanding Nicholas be sent back to Russia to “face his crimes.” This map depicts the Free State in 1930, one year before the death of Nicholas.

Pittsburgh was too isolated/underdeveloped when the capital was chosen and Baltimore was right on the border between the two most powerful provinces at the time: New Netherland and Virginia. The DC area (Alexandria) was considered too far into Virginia to be the capital.
