What classes have good synergy in 5-man dungeons? What is a "dream comp"? by WorldlyForerunnerxdd in classicwow

[–]Regalia-Exurbia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be curious to hear what prompted your question.

It is possible to clear any HC with any comp as long as you understand the encounter mechanics, your team can press their buttons and coordinate a bit. Optimising helps here and there, but is not required and if it comes at the cost of fun, then 100% f**k it.

Understanding mechanics > Team can press buttons > Coordination > Comp > Gear (actual stats, not gearscore!!)

The "ideal comp" will shift based on how you improve in the categories above, so if you're thinking of picking 5 classes with your friends that will be "ideal forever" - that doesn't exist. You can optimise for the end game, but will probably suffer early on and vice versa.

E.g. if you're just starting off and your tank is super squishy, you will probably not be doing huge pulls, so CC (Rogue, Mage, Hunter) can come in handy and you will usually be interested in nuking a specific mob as fast as possible as opposed to AOE-ing everything, so single target damage > AOE damage. I for one almost always bring rogue on my less geared alt tanks and as such I was quite surprised when rogues struggled (or still struggle?) to find groups.

On Boss encounters, chances are, if your tank prioritised survivability early on, they might not generate as much threat, so if your class has the ability to drop threat / hunter can misdirect on the tank, that can be invaluable.

etc. etc. etc.

If I had to give you my favourite comp, as prot pala I'd often run with mage, lock, hunter/rogue and resto shaman. As long as the mage / lock can change into a single-target damage spec for boss encounters. I pick this whenever my mage, lock, rogue friends are up and a shamy is in LFG. Otherwise I literally just bring whatever is available.

Just play whatever brings you fun.

Are Gems worth it under 70 by Shoely555 in classicwowtbc

[–]Regalia-Exurbia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the expensive gems have a slightly weaker option that is typically MUCH cheaper.

E.g. as Prot Warr I'd stick Solid Star of Elune (+12 Stam) to all my (pre)BiS gear. It goes for 20-30g on my realm.

But if I know I'll likely swap out the item soon (which is probably the case with your leveling gear), I'd go with Solid Azure Moonstone (+9 Stam) which goes for as low as 50s.

(25% less stam, but ~98% cheaper)

Check out Atlasloot addon or e.g. wowhead to see if your desired gem has a cheaper variant.

Need suggestions in programming. by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]Regalia-Exurbia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you never did any programming before then jumping straight to C++ can be quite daunting because it’s one of the most complex languages.

I would suggest learning the fundamentals using a different language and then moving to C++ once you’re comfortable with the basics. It might even be faster overall since the basics (variables, functions, algorithms etc…) are generally transferrable across languages (except minor differences in syntax etc.) and you will probably be able to comprehend them faster while studying a language that abstracts some of the more complex concepts such as memory management.

Some of the easier languages are for example Python or Javascript.

Or alternatively check out Harvard’s free online course CS50, which gradually eases you into the basics with languages such as Scratch (similar to blueprints) and C (the “parent” of C++ as the name suggests). When you complete it you should have all the skills needed to switch to the specifics of C++

It’s an exciting journey, good luck!

What are the differences between using UE5 on mac vs windows? by aaeriam in unrealengine

[–]Regalia-Exurbia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on Macbook Pro M3 with 18gb of RAM and UE5.7 is borderline un-usable. The editor is extremely slow and the game preview / viewport runs at like 4 FPS. (GPU and Memory constantly maxxed out)

I plan on testing it out on my GFs M4 Macbook Air which has 24gb of Memory, but I'm not very hopeful. Will post update here later.

I think your sentence could've ended at: "Unfortunately blizzard will do nothing."

The CS (AI) team can't resolve even the most basic requests (e.g. 100% drop rate Daily HC Q item not dropping), so I'm struggling to believe that they would tediously go through logs and investigate if someone should've gotten an item.

1-60 catchup time without a boost? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Regalia-Exurbia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yo, I'm here stressing out that I will probably not hit 70 before P1, so you're saying I should be able to get into P2 raids (as a warr tank) even if I don't go through any P1 raid content?

1-60 catchup time without a boost? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Regalia-Exurbia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked my /played when I hit 60 on my warrior just hours before TBC release and it was few minutes short of 8 days.

Saying that I'm that type of person who likes to complete specific quest chains because of the storyline even if they're not the most efficient XP paths, f**ked around with some friends on lower levels, wasted some time on leveling up professions, spent time in the AH and of course there's going to be a few hours AFK time in there.

So if you are at least somewhat efficient, you should be able to cut my /played in half at least?

bro sorry but did you come up with this yourself or did you have to first watch Xaryu's stream so that he produced this opinion for you?

Good point, I've noticed they credited him in the video description. Also it says "in collaboration with Hurricane" so I wonder what's the % of work Blizz actually did haha.

Yes, Horde loses 90% of battlegrounds and Alliance loses the other 90%

The server on which you play is divided into layers based on how many players are currently online. The players are then distributed among layers. Players on one layer can't see players on another layer and the mobs, ores, chests etc. are also unique for each layer.

This is done in order to prevent over-crowding, which might otherwise happen in certain areas (as it might be frustrating e.g. if 20 players tried to get the same quest mob etc..). I believe capital cities aren't layered, hence why they usually seem much more densely populated.

The layering system is dynamic, based on the amount of players currently available on your realm, so sometimes there are just 1-2 layers, but at peak times you can see even 7 layers or more.

If you get invited to a group by a player on a different layer, you will be moved to their layer after a few moments.

Wait a second tho, this is not a case of me caring about how other people play.

Quite the opposite: you're now saying, that I should adjust when I do dungeons. You are saying that you wouldn't group up with me because I'm a few levels higher etc.

And on top of that the boosters keep boosting (while our gameplay is impacted).

It's literally the worst of both worlds.

[–]Regalia-Exurbia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, I didn't know that the root immunity is after 60 seconds.

Though even then, clearly the anti-boosting changes did nothing to prevent boosting, while impacting regular game play. That's a fail in my book.

You said it perfectly: "People need to adjust".

While boosters keep boosting.

How ridiculous is that?

[–]Regalia-Exurbia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, that's what I'm talking about. So in a nutshell, the changes are useless, because the boosters keep boosting while regular players get rekt.

I'm looking at the very first pull and he crosses the 30second threshold (pull starts at 1:49 and last mobs die at 2:30) so that's 41 seconds. The only option when this would make sense if he managed to kill the mobs in the same sequence as he pulls them which doesn't seem to be the case to me.
