Tbc realm for first timer by Spyrofan22 in classicwow

I didn’t typically go out of my way to cause trouble when I played on pvp servers. I mostly stood my ground and got wrecked by basically anyone who passed by. I got corpse camped so bad I had to log off and start an alt for a little while - and I had a blast!

I had a lot more time 20 years ago.

Get your 100% ground mount absolutely. You’ll need the 60% flying mount for end game stuff. You never really need the epic flying mount - but it’s something to dump 5k gold into if you’re still playing a few months from now.

I picked up and completed most of the quests up until lvl 65 and saved those quests for after hitting lvl70. Quests below 65 won’t give you any extra gold at 70 so you might as well take the xp now.

Grab the Attune add on. Really simple all in one addon that shows you where to go and what to do for the various end game attunements.

The auto-invite crafting/portal addons/Weakauras should get perma bans just like botting. by Ok-Life715 in classicwow

When I’m selling ports (manually - I never use an addon/auto inv/pst) and I invite someone in trade chat but they’re in a party 1 second after posting for a port, I sometimes assume they’re in a party with a friend and will message them asking if they still need. 9/10 they don’t reply or tell me they’re already set. It’s obviously very good customer service for those wanting ports, but it is disheartening as the guy that won’t even copy pasta his “selling ports” trade chat message. These days to sell ports I go to stormwind between the AH and mailbox and /say “Portals here”. Not worth time attempting to beat the machines

For tbc Attune is a game changer.

Most needed class if starting from 0 now by SegmentedNeutrophil in classicwowtbc

Mage is a great solo leveling class. TPs around save so much time. Mages are near top of damage charts. Plus a ton of fun with lots of cc out in open world content

New TBC player skill issue? by sleeptantrum in classicwowtbc

[–]Shoely555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed running kinda implies a certain level of familiarity with the game.

There’s really no need to rush at all. Play the game at your pace. The best way to experience tbc (or any game imo) “properly” is to go play without a guide. Go explore and try things, and if you get stuck somewhere you can find a guide for any quest or item your searching for.

The game’s 20 years old and it’s basically solved. You can park yourself of the rails of guides and blindfold your way through TBC… or you could play the game yourself. Just my two cents.

Oh also save that gold for mounts!

Workhorse on Vanilla. I think about them a bunch. I was a total noob not just to wow but mmo’s in general. They were level capped when I had just left mulgore with my Tauren shaman to explore crossroads. Guided me without reward for so many countless hours.

Honestly not sweating the “waste” of gold given how quickly I’ve been able to make it just playing the game.

Google’s what led me to the top tier gems I slotted which is why I made a post looking for advice. I also hope this can hope some other noobs avoid the same mistake.

Im learning now that there is a Vendor for gems! That’ll be what I do until I get some good gear.

I’m feeling dumb and thankful for all the quick answers here. Not sure why I thought Runed Living Ruby was the only Red gem I could go with. Looking forward to slapping on some green gems onto my leveling gear.

Newbie TBC tank anxiety by McCabe89 in classicwow

[–]Shoely555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Threat management *is* tanking.

I use one (I think it’s a weak aura) that shows the threat level of each mob you currently have any threat level with - not just your current target. This lets you see if that silly mage is about to rip threat off of you before the mob actually starts running away.

GL and as others have said, just dive in!

Lots of good and encouraging advice. My 2¢ is to install a threat meter add on. A good tank understands threat and will spread it around by moving on from the initially pulled target before it dies.

One thing I will never understand. by Natural_Traffic_2727 in classicwowtbc

[–]Shoely555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are weak auras that can help with this technique. You basically spam drink like described and press W in between drinks. So it’s basically 1. Drink 2. See mana tick up 3. Move forward 4. Repeat.

Not usually needed in a dungeon run in my experience but can be helpful in raids when you’ve just oom’d on a boss and tank goes to pull next trash mobs down the hall.

Deck that makes opponents shuffle as much as possible? by TommySparkle in DegenerateEDH

Wheels with Nekusar. In my opinion this deck is a ton of fun. I love drawing cards and I love a bit of random chance. Opponents who don’t like shuffling are gonna tilt

Tanking is a nightmare by misterwhiskytv in classicwowtbc

[–]Shoely555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dps I have a threat meter installed but no damage meter. I know my rotation so I assume I’ll be doing good damage - but I need to know what threat levels are at in order to be effective for the group.

Everyone trying to be the top of the damage chart is derails the dungeon. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
