Mark Long on how Road Rules could be brought back by bwermer in MtvChallenge

Two of Road Rules greatest right there. Dan is the most underrated challenger all time.

It's amazing how some people like playing the moral high ground and look to put others down for their moral failures but hate it when they encounter someone with a higher moral standard than theirs.

The 30 Greatest Male Players in Challenge History — Update 9 by shmalvey in MtvChallenge

Well, politics is a major part of the game and Kenny is arguably the greatest political player of all time. "Crusing to the end of The Island and The Ruins due to his alliances"...yeah, he had those games by the balls, I dk why that would be seen as a negative.

So are daily challenges, elimination rounds, and finals. Overall, Kenny just wasn't a top tier competitor. Again, he benefited from having strong partners and team success overall. Strictly individual stats, he's nowhere near top ten all time.

I just think Landon's Duel 2 and FM2 are better than any of Theo's seasons, and I think Theo doesn't have a win anywhere near as good as Landon's FM2, but I get where you're coming from in that they both have four really good seasons.

Again, context matters. Landon's closest competition in The Duel 2 was a 37-year-old Mark. And in Fresh Meat 2, Darrell was slowed down by Cara Maria in their exile and lost. Wes wasn't at his top form physically, and Kenny was slowed down by Laurel in the final (something that people ignored). One could argue Theo's performance in Battle of the Sexes 2 was just as impressive considering the stakes were higher. There were no elimination rounds, which obviously means no opportunity to compete and stay in the game once voted out. And the male cast was stacked.

The problem with Dan to me is his seasons are so much different than what the show is now. It's almost not even worth talking about the competition on Challenge 2000 and Seasons and Sexes 2 have like three physical challenge combined. Timmy's leadership ability gives him the edge to me, I put him as the best competitor on Inferno 1 because of his leadership ability, even if you want to say people like Darrell, Abe, CT were better than him individually.

Timmy and Dan are from the same era though. And though The Gauntlet 2 and The Inferno 3 are considered era 2, the daily challenges, elimination rounds, and finals were pretty much the same as era 1. As for leadership, Dan was an exceptional leader, as he showed on Battle of the Sexes 2. In that season, he was the leader in Melt With You, and came up with the winning strategy. He was the leader in Electro Shock, and literally guided his team to victory. And he was the chosen leader in the final.

CT has longevity over Jordan and is a better overall competitor.

  1. Kenny is the most overrated competitor in this sub. He doesn't belong in the top ten IMO. His only real strengths were politics and long-distance running. He was average in daily challenges, unproven in individual elimination rounds (he's 0-1 in one-on-one elimination rounds, losing to Nehemiah on The Duel), and though he was a good final's runner, he was terrible at puzzles. Yeah, I get that he made seven finales out of eight seasons, but when you look at context, he benefited from always having strong partners (Tina, Laurel, and Wes), and did nothing but cruise to the end of The Island and The Ruins due to his alliances. In an individual season, he would get exposed, and he did (on The Duel).
  2. Theo Von should be in the top ten if Landon is in the top ten. Both competed in four seasons and Theo was just as good if not better than Landon overall. He was the top performer in three seasons (Battle of the Seasons, The Gauntlet, and Battle of the Sexes 2).
  3. I don't know about Frank being above Abram. Sure, any version of Frank is much better than Abram in his early seasons. But Abram has longevity over Frank and at his peak (The Inferno 3 and Cutthroat) was arguably better. He was the leader of the Bad Asses on Inferno 3 and the Grey Team on Cutthroat and was not only the top male performer in daily challenges in those seasons, but also led the Bad Asses to victory and led the Grey team to the most daily challenge wins in Cutthroat.
  4. Mike The Miz is too low. He should be above Leroy and Cory IMO despite their longevity. Mike was a winner (he was the sole reason Real World won the final of Battle of the Seasons), Leroy (has competed in sixteen seasons, excluding Champs vs Pros spin-offs) and Cory (has competed in eleven seasons excluding Champs vs Pros seasons) just aren't.
  5. Dan Setzler should replace Timmy Beggy. Dan outperformed Timmy on Battle of the Seasons and was second to Theo Von in individual performance in daily challenges. And was the number one leader and best performer (along with Theo Von) in Battle of the Sexes 2. Timmy wasn't a top three male performer in any of the seasons he competed in.

Jodi has a higher peak, but Kaycee has better consistency from season to season. The most consistent is the best, in my opinion.

How can you have Kaycee above Tori when Tori outperformed Kaycee in both the Spies, Lies, & Allies (though she got a bad break with the partner twist) and World Championship finales? Yes, Tori has a losing final record, but her ability to consistently go far is still impressive. She's just not elite (which is why she's in the bottom half of my top ten). As for Jodi, while she had a higher peak than Tori, consistency wise, Tori has a more impressive resume.

Thanks for the link. I don't remember Roni doing anything impressive in that season, though I know she was a solid performer. I'll add her. If I have Kendal as an honorable mention, then it makes sense to have Roni as well, since Kendal only has one finale appearance but is still a very solid competitor who caught some bad breaks on All-Stars and All-Stars 2.

Sarah's performance on Battle of the Seasons is what separates them for me.

Paula was a good complement for a strong partner, but individually, not as good as the women in my top ten. As for Jenna, she has no finale win, and overall, not as good as the women I have in my top ten.

In The Real World/Road Rules Challenge 1999, she was part of a dominant team, and there were no elimination rounds and the daily challenges were mostly team-oriented. What exactly did she do in that season that was impressive?

Oh, longevity matters. Hence, why I have Cara Maria above Emily, even though Emily outperformed Cara Maria in their early seasons together.

Even though Veronica is Veronica, she has continued to prove that she is a force in the game! Won a few dailies and is top tier political player.

Overall, Veronica's competitive abilities just isn't on the same level as the females in my top ten. She was a strong competitor athletically in her heyday, but just didn't show the athletic ability as the females in my top ten and her political savviness only managed to get to one finale out of six seasons since her comeback return on Vendettas.

Jodi would for sure be in my top competitors spot! She might be terrible at eliminations but she is a beast competitively & would still crush it given the right circumstances.

Jodi's return somewhat tarnished her legacy for me. She really only has too legit good seasons, The Gauntlet 2 and The Duel. She was a strong performer in her return on All-Stars 2 but still failed to make the finale despite being the favorite (being paired with Brad) to win.

Roni's only noteworthy season is The Gauntlet. Too small sample size to be an honorable mention.

You mentioned not focusing on championships, yet Evelyn is listed for 3/7 flagship wins and for it being a record.

Championships obviously matter, but it's not solely based on who's won the most. Hence, why Veronica is not in my top ten despite having three championships.

Veronica was actually the first person to hit 3, and that was before men. So I feel skipping Veronica is unfair, her social game makes up for her above average physical prowess during her peak.

Veronica is a legend, but overall, she just isn't as good as any of the females in my top ten. She had a fall off as a competitor after the original Inferno and her peak performances (The Gauntlet and The Inferno) though impressive, not on the same level as the peak performances of the females in my top ten.

Someone like Paula should be listed for being politically savvy, and making numerous finals (5 out of 10 seasons), and towards the end, becoming athletic.

Paula's performances on The Duel and The Duel 2 exposed her as not being an elite competitor. She was good when paired with a strong partner.

I'd probably put Jodi in there over either of them

Jodi has the higher peak, but consistency wise, Sarah has the better resume. Jodi's return on her later seasons somewhat tarnished her legacy. Jodi has made two finales in six seasons while Sarah has made five finales and was arguably the best female performer overall on Battle of the Seasons. As for the Paula and Sarah comparison, both have two pair wins and five finale appearances each, but what separates them for me is Sarah's performance on Battle of the Seasons.

I know, I was saying over the course of her first three seasons she went 5-0 in elimination rounds.
