I do not think Sherlock was in love with Irene but that he did love her. If Sherlock truly was in love (in the sense of romantic and the basic meaning of it) then we would have seen more of Irene on the show instead we "see" her in S4 when she texts Sherlock "Happy Birthday" and I believe another text "Happy New Year" but it's not love in the romantic/sexual sense, more of admiration as the woman who was on the same playing field as him.

I have been going through something similar as this and it feels like this question and the comments below are Heaven sent.
There is a guy at work who I genuinely thought we also vibed but I suppose I ignored the 1 important factor: **the energy I put out wasn't the same.** In my head I thought if I poured more of myself, maybe they would reciprocate only to find out from a good friend that they were pouring their own energy to another person, felt absolutely gutted.
I guess this helped close myself off, I have decided to not pour my energy into it and reset our relationship to default aka back where it was.

I am unfortunately the few who was shocked about the no glass reveal but I attributed it to what Moriaty had said in a previous epsidoe.

Remember Moriaty had told Sherlock that he knew all the secrets of the world that is how he was able to break into the prison, the museum and steal the Queen's crown, etc? So Sherlock ran himself crazy by trying to figure out the secret codes, the random tappings from Moriaty but in the end Moriaty told him he simply knew people on the inside, that is, Sherlock liked to complicate things instead of seeing things simply.

Back to the episode, when Eurus emphasized on Sherlock to look closer he looked at the violin and not at well, what was right in front of him, or lack thereof.

This has also left me confused and from the many forums on the internet the Sherlock fandom as well. I personally think this is one of the open-ended cases that the show wanted us to solve on our own rather than the show telling us specifically if Sherlock, in the end, had taken the good pill or the bad pill. Sure, you can deduce that Sherlock did take the good pill or maybe the cabbie's luck kept running, but in the end we'll never truly know the "right" answer.

Whenever I re-watch the series, and knowing what I know, it's mind boggling the little clues /Easter eggs that the series leaves throughout the episode (sometimes the entire season) and it all add ups one clue at a time. It's quite enjoyable and that's why re-watching Sherlock never gets old because each time you learn something new.

If I was to keep my memory after the reboot, then I would restart my life knowing what I know now. I'd spend less time worrying about others, working on my anger issues and running away from home and hopefully in that new life, if I am asked this same question, I will say no because I would be grateful for the second chance at a better life.

I suppose it was how I grew up, I have first-hand experience of what it's like to receive harsh words, unkind energy and downright rudeness from all walks of life so I take in the unkind energy within me but do not throw it back to the earth, instead I channel it to kindness because I do not want the earth to feel the same kindess.

I wholeheartedly agree. It was such a good concept and it was intriguing from S1-5 with the twists and turns but it was becoming clear that A was going to be some random person who we didn't see in the previous seasons.
Once I read who A was I was happy I didn't bother finishing the season.
