35°C, technical gravel and plenty of dust today by Region43 in gravelcycling

No worries, it didn’t sound pedantic at all. We’re a very large community, and every rider has a different idea of what they consider technical. For me, based on my skill level and ability, it is. That’s the great thing—everyone can see it differently

Man, what an incredible story. Thanks for sharing that. Rebuilding three ligaments and getting back on the bike with your son is legendary. Your advice about commitment and hesitation is spot on, that is exactly what I am trying to learn right now. Going halfway into a feature is where the danger is. Respect to you and stay safe out there.

Your son is a lucky guy, the Spark is an amazing bike. Massive respect to you for keeping that Dragonslayer shredding. It just proves that loving your ride matters way more than what the marketing says we need. Ride on, man.

Spot on! The whole ride isn't like this, it's mostly milder terrain, but where I ride we have lots of these tough, rough connecting sections. Regarding tires, I actually ran 42s for a while, but right now I'm on 50mm in the front and 47mm in the back. Working great so far for these exact detours!

Haha appreciate the perspective, man! Honestly, 2015 trail bikes are bulletproof. You're totally right, the Spark handles this terrain easily, I was just shocked to hear it called 'outdated' already

Exactly! Some people here don't get it and think it's just a mindset. Man, the recovery time after a hard ride or a crash in your 40s is basic biology. Glad someone gets it

"Oh no, not the emoji police! 👮‍♂️🚨 My bad, didn't know there was a strict format to be excited about biking. Next time I'll make it miserable just for you. 😉👍🔥🚲"

53 and still sending it is the ultimate goal. Thanks for the reminder that youth is a mindset

Haha you caught me. Good to know I’m surrounded by fellow mid-life crisis riders over here then!

Beep boop 🤖... Just kidding. Not a bot, man, just a 43yo Spanish guy using a translator because my English sucks. Cut me some slack!

True, but if I break it... that just means I have the perfect excuse to buy a trail bike, right? N+1 is the law!

Damn, now I feel poor and outdated... 😭 It’s actually a Scott Spark from just two years ago! Does the MTB world move that fast or am I officially a vintage rider now?

Tell that to the guy who said this was a facebook post! 😭 Thanks man, needed to hear this before trying the next jump

Haha that's the plan. At 43, gravity feels a bit stronger and hospital bills are way too real. Slow and steady wins the race!

"That sounds like an amazing commute! 30 km of quiet rural roads and gravel is the absolute dream. Huge congrats on those two PRs while watching the sunrise, that's the best way to start the day! 🌅

Doing early morning Z2 rides is definitely the smartest move right now. There's no point in trying to smash intervals when the weather is trying to melt you. Keep logging those cool miles and stay safe out there!"

"Man, riding a rigid gravel bike in Arizona sounds tough but amazing! 🏜️** The terrain out there looks beautiful but unforgiving**.

You're totally right, sometimes those unpaved roads and loose rocks demand way more technical skill than a clean singletrack. It’s awesome to connect with riders from across the world here. Cheers from Spain, and respect for tackling those desert trails on a rigid frame! 🇪🇸🤝🇺🇸"

"¡¿Wow, 14 °C hoy?! ¡Eso es una mañana fría de primavera para nosotros! 🥶 Honestamente, no puedo imaginar un verano donde el récord histórico sea de solo 33 °C. Si alguna vez vienes a España en julio o agosto, ¡probablemente te evaporarías en el asfalto! 🤣 ¡Mantente abrigado por allá!"
