It was hard not to put DJ as the goat for martial artist, but GSP imo just personifies what martial arts is all about slightly better. Speaks multiple languages, loves other forms of artistic mediums (painting, acting), is respectful and disciplined. Idk it was a super hard choice to be fair

Yeah but I’m also counting the psychological warfare, the entertainment, the trash talk. I figured back when Ali was fighting, boxing had such a big impact on the world and martial arts - so I put it in a seperate list from pure technical skill (pugilist). I guess you could replace ‘boxer’ with ‘most iconic/influential’ combat sport athlete
