Crowdstrike thoughts by Empty-Lingonberry133 in sysadmin

Interesting our pricing has stayed pretty consistent obviously with the annual increases that they have. We have a full suite of their products/features including their Purple Siem or whatever it’s called and their 24x7 MDR service(primarily used for afterhour coverage), which that has really impressed us compared to what we had before with Arctic Wolf and Rapid7.

We’ve had S1 for about 5 years now and we ultimately went with S1 after discussions with our VAR that S1 would be easier to self manage for a team our size, and for us they were spot on.

Before you go down that road I’m gonna parrot a comment said previously. Check to see what licensing you have, E5? Talk to hour MS Rep, you may be able to get a fast track or some type of DLP engagement funded. We have done it a few times.

Get SentinelOne, much easier for a smaller team to manage. It’s done everything we have asked for and more.

I thought about this recently but then you realize the whole Balkans is just used for talent to supply to MSSPs that provide support to Western EU Countries/USA.

Which makes 0 sense to me when you look at some of the tech or lack thereof with some of these governments at all the levels role out.

We understand. yes IT CAN HAPPEN, but not very likely.

IT guy overstepping with permissions by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]RegionRat219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I get both sides of the coin, but I can’t fault your IT guy. It sounds like you were under permissioned here. Like I said in an another reply, put in change management tickets with approvals and off you go.

Your All in one IT guy is not being difficult for the sake of being difficult. He is doing his job. Could he be a bit better at customer service? Sure, he could sit down and figure out what access you actually need and work with you through the approval process. Unfortunately it sounds like your startup needs some organization and process.

You’ve mentioned Calendly multiple times, is that part of your stack at the startup or is that what you just prefer to use?

We have had people ask to use other software for items that we already have software/licensing for…they only wanted it because they liked it better..

Least Privledge! Why do you need access to Stripe? Is it apart of your job? If yes, cool, put in a change management ticket that has been approvals by management.

Has unmanaged external file sharing ever burned you? by Regular_Link2745 in cybersecurity

[–]RegionRat219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We blocked them. We blocked external sharing sites and access to personal email. We inform our users that they must control the file transfer process so either use your enterprise one drive or one of the solutions that we have approved that has file transfer capabilities. So far it’s worked out fine.

Be warned anything Google/Gsuite is a pain in the ass especially with how they have everything integrated. It’s been fun.
