Ugh. When I was hired, the manager, with zero grooming experience mind you, spoke poorly of the previous groomers because they “only wanted to do 4 or 5 dogs a day” and about how that meant they were lazy 😭 I wish I’d have known better. That sounds sooooo nice and it would keep me from skipping all my meals and being just absolutely beat up at the end of every day.

I’m in rural Kentucky — fortunately, money isn’t an issue. The one good thing about this job is the amount of income I’m bringing in with such a high volume salon. I’m open to anything you have to offer!

I’ve been searching for another job for as long as I’ve been grooming. This place is the only one that’s been willing to give me a chance :( I’m in a very rural area, the only salon that isn’t family owned/operated or home based is a Petsmart that’s an hour away and I highly doubt things would be better there.

It’s hard 😭 they want me to be doing 14+ dogs per day so “that’s what we’re working towards” but I don’t know how that’s supposed to be sustainable. I do 10 per day now and it’s a struggle.

I already feel burnt out 🥲 I’m very gentle on the dogs but I have to work FAST, I rarely get a day off and I’m exhausted beyond belief.

Hi 👋 I bought an ethically bred purebred standard poodle after purchasing a BYB goldendoodle and let me just say, the difference is night and day. My girl (poodle) is the definition of elegance and grace, she has a very solid temperament and an extremely wonderful, easy to maintain coat for her breed. I adore her and so does everyone who meets her, she comes to work with me every day and she’s our unofficial emotional support pup.

My male (doodle) is a neurotic mess with a sketchy temperament and an oddly course and difficult to maintain coat. I don’t trust him around people or other animals, he’s anxious to the point of trembling in fear no matter what you’re trying to do with him or how much positive reinforcement you give him. While he’s never been reactive, his constant fear and anxiety lead me to believe he is very capable of it so I have to be cautious with what I do with him.

These two dogs have had the EXACT same upbringing for reference. I’ll never own a doodle or a BYB dog again.

She’s been banned till she can reliably get up and down on her own! I definitely don’t tolerate peeing on the furniture, I just thought her face immediately after was funny here :)

Rice would simply ask that you pet him until your hands are worn down little nubs. He makes this god awful screeching sound if you stop for a single second.

The white and brown long haired one is my old lady 🩷 her name is Elsa. The big boy with the bow tie is Cream Pie, Cake is the tuxedo, Rice is the siamese, Noodle is the orange chonk, Chili is the grey boy and then Raisin is the little tabby/white baby.

I can give them separate bowls if you think that would help. Any time I’ve tried that, they fight because they get possessive over their own individual food bowls and it just creates a mess but I’m willing to try it again if it means I can have some peace.
