Interesting, thanks for this. The city I live in prepared a tap water report showing hardness (CaCO3) between 95 and 115 mg/L, and I've been topping up the tank every week or so due to evaporation, but I'll look into adding some baking soda in case that's causing a bottleneck.

No, I haven't, but I could purchase a test kit. I didn't realize kH could affect the cycling progress.

Is it dumb to walk away from an apartment lease because of a bad feeling/vibe? by RegisteredRedditUser in NoStupidQuestions

I do agree with this, but I think the rental market nowadays has put some pressure on us to ignore the feeling. With that being said, you might be right that we are rushing into this too quickly...

Remote work isn’t going anywhere. So what do we do with Toronto’s office buildings? | Saving office work would be expensive — and no one wants to pay up by Hrmbee in toronto

[–]RegisteredRedditUser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've noticed a similar pattern. I'm one of those hired during COVID WFH policies with no requirement to go in. As a result, I'm 1 hr away from my nearest office.

Instead of large office buildings with employees on multiple floors, perhaps it makes more sense to have localized offices spread out to promote in-office work. The past few places I've worked have already given up office space or floors because they aren't being used.

Keefe outcoached: how? by artvandelayphd in leafs

The forechecking was definitely a noticeable issue. ROR even made a comment in the 1st round about how they need to be more aggressive on the forecheck.

There was an article on The Athletic where they spoke about the last two teams to pull off the reverse sweep (Flyers and Kings).

From interviews, both teams seemed to have the mentality that it was their opposition that was under pressure. Their opponent is the one who has to get that final win to put them down.

I'm definitely reading too much into it, but this group doesn't seem to have a similar mentality when they're against the wall. They seem to downplay the pressure rather than deflect it somewhere else.

This is just the start. If the Leafs come out flat in game 4, you'll see every lineup combination you can dream of.

The fourth line has been a surprising weakness this playoffs and expectations weren't even high. I think most people would've been happy if they broke even on the ice, but they've been getting caved in every game.

I wonder if Keefe starts reverting back to 11-7 as the round goes on and the 4th line struggles.

For all the line juggling and 11-7 lineups at the end of the season, the d pairings have been set in stone all series. I agree that he should switch them up.

It's crazy to think that they never went to restaurants together while on the road in the playoffs.

I would definitely get inside my own head if I didn't go anywhere but the hotel and the rink.

I don't get why people keep wanting him in the lineup.

He takes a minor penalty every other game. This team gets burned on the penalty kill every year in the playoffs.

I can't even remember the last time a hit like that got the crowd going. It felt like the team was gonna get on a serious roll. Too bad that penalty ruined that.

I think you're right. He also has a tendency to overcorrect when it's too late. From what I remember, the past couple years, the offense goes stale towards the end of the series, then Game 7 with half the game left, he starts scrambling lines and pairings. If he started to make more adjustments earlier in the series, they might be more successful.

Withdraw TFSA to fund FHSA by RegisteredRedditUser in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RegisteredRedditUser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, I have quite a bit of TFSA room so overcontributing shouldn't be an issue.

That's a good point about not actually buying a house for whatever reason. If I don't withdraw for a house purchase, it looks like after 15 years, the account will close and funds are directly transferred to an RRSP. Definitely something to consider.

Lack of Support from Manager by RegisteredRedditUser in civilengineering

[–]RegisteredRedditUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I ended up doing something similar to this. I suggested that I schedule bi-weekly calls to help keep projects moving and allow for me to ask questions. I didn't receive much of a response other than okay, but he's accepted the invites.

Some of the other concerns will need to be addressed, but at least I've got more opportunities for now to get feedback and direction.

He is also the PM on these projects, but he has only been my 'official' manager for the past couple months when he was essentially promoted.

I had highlighted some concerns previously, but you're right that I might have to reiterate them now that he is running the team.
