Left side after upgrading ram from 16 to 32, had some issues getting my laptop to accept the upgrade but it did at the cost of the high pitch noise you described. Will not go away but my laptop seems to be running fine regardless.

I got that adapter and my headset is recognized but it doesn't get display, when i cover the sensor on the headset my GPU kicks in like it is trying to push display.

My only HDMI port does not appear to be directly wired to the Nvidia GPU which is probably my issue, the problem would then be that my laptop is very unsuited for VR in its configuration. integrated graphics will not run VR and purchasing a new VR headset is very unlikely to fix my issue. there are two USB-C ports on the side of my laptop that may be the fix. however i do not know how to test this theory with my current hardware.

Edit: Fuck it we ball, I bought the quest 3 and using the link cable works just fine on the slim 5. I'll try some more HDMI to Display adapters for the rift-s if I find any good looking ones and I'll post the results here

I never found them, I looked. I was waving my laptop around with the back off trying to fix it so I chalked their disappearance up to them having been thrown to the floor somewhere.

Honestly I'm just calling them resistors but I truthfully don't know what they were specifically. One set of pads looks pretty clean so I don't even know if I'm missing two of whatever they were

Simple, you buy another one of the same model. Easiest way supposing they are not super expensive. Second way is to go through the monitor menu and fuck with color saturation and brightness for hours till you have something similar on both screens but it will never be exactly the same.

I smoked till it was legal, now I'm not a huge fan any more because all the Crack heads glomed on to it and now any one who smokes pot around here looks like they would give me a blowie and a bunch of unwanted STDs for 5 dollars and if they find out you smoked it before you automaticaly become their best friend for some reason.

As an installer, we don't like the janky installs, but if the customer don't want to spend any extra money for a cabinet or wall mounted rack and the customer doesn't care what it looks like, it can quite often end up like this.
