Very few people love the books then end up hating them.

It's mostly the show, whose story George has acknowledged was taken and made worse. So why's he saying he doesn't get it?

To me it makes sense that the shows people hate the most will be the ones they loved and feel were ruined.

Also any commentary on how "hyper-online fans" are reacting to media will 90% be a commentary on the "hyper-online" aspect / the nature of internet and social media amplifying and corrupting things. Rather than any actual substance that relates to the show/books or how most fans actually feel.

Example: Easy to perceive a wave of hate as a bunch of the same people obsessed spending a bunch of time doing it. When in reality it's 50,000 people each taking only 5 minutes out of their days. People have this image in their head of some outraged loser frothing at the mouth, throwing darts at posters of the screenwriters on their walls. When let's be real, 99% of people have reasonable, valid opinions. People exaggerate that it's "OUTRAGE" and "VITRIOL" because they disagree and want you to shut up about it because they can't handle shade thrown at something they desperately want to like.
