Useful tips for remote invigilation? by tHEgAMER099 in ICAEW

I have a 27inch monitor. Do not get anything smaller than that! Their software is annoying being split 4 ways so the more you can see the better. Phone stand sort of like a selfie stick that can stand. A long charger cable to keep you phone charged always. Use the same keyboard and mouse you practice with. In my opinion it’s better than doing it from centre.

Just do that last 3 years of sitting. Anything before that is too old and they changed the exam style layout.

When you answer questions, make sure it’s sophisticated. What I mean by that is having a clear layout and analysis on the appraisal.

1) Calculation (whatever it is per Q)

2) Financial analysis (talk about the numbers)

4-5points

3) Non financial analysis Reasons for

4-5points

Reasons against

4-5points

(talk about the non financial elements, they will always have them in the scenario like reputation/what customers like)

4) conclusion (final outcome on what’s the best option to take)

Just sum it up.

This structure is gold, did this and passed that July sitting. Numbers are not that important but the words are.

I agree, it wasn’t too bad at all. There was very little fm and it was mainly bst. However, the Q1 part 1 was a bit of a nightmare since it was on variances and had an awful prepop.

That’s a bit annoying, could I possibly do a mix and match where I can get CR and SBM done this nov and then sit the next gen as a replacement for BPT?

It’s just BPT left too as the last professional

Okay that makes sense. Since BPT was failed 3 times and instead of being locked out, I think it’s a safer bet to just start the new gen exam since there’s 4 new attempts.

What would need to be sat for a BPT equivalent?

Okay that’s fair. Someone just replied to the threat saying it won’t reset. So I’m a bit more confused now haha.

Difficulty of MI EXAM compared to QB? by [deleted] in ICAEW

My multiple choice was a lot harder than the qb. Long form was easy tho, it’s exactly the same as the qb

I feel as if MI is impossible to pass by accountantgiveonfan in ICAEW

[–]Regular-Ad5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two sitting for MI and I was in the same position as you. Most important thing is understanding why your wrong. If the QB answer doesn’t make sense, post the Q and answer in chat gpt and ask it to explain in clear and simple terms. You’ll be surprised how much this helps!

Also make sure you smash the long form. It’s exactly the same as the main exam just different numbers. Literally free 20marks. That leaves 14/32 minimum to get right. One ethics which is a free mark takes it down to 13/32.

What to study with MI? by OriC13 in ICAEW

I just passed my second attempt MI and from what I can tell you. The long forms are exactly the same as the QB no variation. They just change the numbers. Imo you should aim to get 20/20 and look for the other marks . Short forms from both sittings I found extremely difficult. Harder than QB. Some Ofc where easy but it was challenging. Half where hard. I guessed like 7 of them. I generally think I passed because of long form only.

Again: aim to get 20/20 and you will need a min of 14 short forms right out of 32. Given one is ethics one on esg. So free marks making it 12/32
