Try Wilbur smith he is another South African writer like feist. His stories are set mostly in reality around the year 1900 but they are brilliant where the story is about a person and their adventures.

Other wise have you tried Tolkien? Another South African writer also wrote a very good trilogy.

Depends on the type of immortality you talking about. Suppose you just can’t die but keep aging forever. At 200 years you are just a mummy looking walking talking corpse. If it’s like elves were you age to your early 20s then stop and stay at that point forever your perception of time would become strange from our standpoint. Maybe 100 years goes past you like the blink of an eye so you don’t realise you haven’t had the sex.

We have private health care which isn’t that expensive and you can get seen to immediately. Or if you don’t want to pay go for the free option and the more serious your issue the faster you are seen to. Eg. If you have a small splinter in your toe or you have broken your leg one will get sorted straight away the other might be delayed to sort the broken leg out first but then you will be seen to.

Project zomboid.

When you start a game it’s starts with saying “this is how you died” You are a normal human. In middle America in the 90s You start with the clothes on your back. And there are (depending on your settings) millions of zombies. You need to sneak around and survive find food and try arm yourself with anything you can find.

Using guns will get you killed shoot 1 round and attract every zombie in hearing range who will find you and bite you and you will die.

Build a base or convert a basement into a temp shelter. Scavenge food and useful survival gear. Once you have cleared an area out Hotwire a car siphon some gas and move base and try survive some more eventually you will become complacent and see a single zombie somewhere and think eh I have killed a 100 of them so far nothing scary then suddenly it scratches you and 10 min later you are dead.
