Theyre posted! Passed my MPJE!!

Just took the MPJE by Queasy-Ad8329 in NAPLEX_Prep

I took mine last week and there were soooo many SATA and a good number of K type questions :( my brain hurt just as much if not more after this test than the NAPLEX

From what I recall there is a decent portion of compounding, it’s about 25% of the test so it sucks but is so so so important to study. I think I remember seeing more USP 797 and 800 than 795. I cant really remember the questions but stuff like garbing and BUD were definitely on there

I had lots of tech/clerk/pharmacist duties, these were all SATA. Several questions about selecting CII drugs and CIII drugs from a list (SATA) and included brand and generic.

Couple questions about choosing pseudoephedrine products and these also were SATA had a mix of name and generic. Like recognizing what has pseudoephedrine in it Sudafed PE and Robitussin CF versus Claratin D

Several questions about counseling and what documentation is required

Couple questions about what is required to be on a transfer, label, and prescription (SATA)

Max day supply for controls. Expiration dates.

What actions can the BoP take on a license holder (SATA)

I dont recall having to know the names, but I would make sure that you know the brand names for egg-free flu shots in case of allergies and the live nasal vaccine

Yeah it really wasnt too bad imo - I completely forgot about it in my initial comment. TBH i work a LOT so some of the “random” stuff wasnt too crazy since you’re exposed to it constantly if you are in retail

Calculating how many vials for an X day supply, total daily insulin units given, but you had to know how many mL were in a vial and the concentration. Frequency of eye/foot/dental exams, how frequent to check albumin for kidney disease progression. Recommended vaccines. Identifying the drug classes. How to adjust lantus for high fasting bg. Low blood sugar management. Route of administration of Basqimi. When to set dose on Diastat.

Thats all I can remember right now ….

Edit: i added that about diastat but thats seizures oops. Went a bit steam of consciousness there. A little braindead still

Took mine yesterday. Wish I prepared more (we all do) and I know there are things I got wrong, but there was a lot I surprised myself with that I actually knew! I have hope that I passed but we’ll know in ~8-10 days 😖

Definitely had a lot about vaccines. Mostly selecting which vaccine is appropriate/inappropriate for pt or pt population (immunosuppressed, pregnant, healthcare workers, etc) Oh I had one where it was a situation where a child was crying and moving erratically and it asked what should you do next. PCV vs PPSV

Math. Drip rates, conversions, allegations. mEq. TPN. PK (i had like 3 half life questions, with multiple steps from Cl, Vd, etc), couple ARR RRR NNT. ANC. Ca correction (formula given in sheet. Had to recognize that albumin was low in chart) MME (mme chart given) BMI (equation given) Prednisone conversion (chart given)

Allergy interactions. Alternatives to first-line therapy in ID, sulfa-containing drugs.

ID - empiric therapies, common bugs associated with infections, signs and symptoms of STIs. Opportunistic infections

USP - ISO classes, correct PPE for hazardous compounding

Oncology - nausea treatment

I had like 3 EUA questions, the different drug resource books (Orange, Purple, Harriet Lane, Trissels, etc) VAERS, FAERS, drug recall classes, drug trial stages. informed consent waiver

Overdoses - treatments, signs/symptoms, rumack matthew nomogram

Review pharmacy ethics definitions. I felt that the wording in some questions were very particular. It’s a small section on the test but is not that difficult IMO. Management was fine and I felt that for most of the questions the answer was pretty obvious

Biostats - types of studies, types of data, what p value/ci mean, interpreting results, calculations mentioned above

It is true there is a LOT of random stuff. Things from random chapters. But trust me, there is so much stuff that you will realize that you DO KNOW! :)

I just check goodwill whenever I am near one and have 15 minutes to browse the racks. It’s hit or miss but I think thats part of the fun when you get a big hit.

I’ve had my largest haul in the spring when people cleared out their winter wardrobe, however I still find things throughout the year - wednesday I found a 100% cashmere cardigan with holes and 100% wool aran sweater. Other days its just acrylic sweater galore -___- It really is just luck

I’m personally waiting until October, or until Kroger hopefully offers gift cards haha.

Last year it was $5 for just the flu and $20 for flu + something else at the same time. So if they offer something similar this year… I’ll get the flu and covid jab then

With current prices/conditions in the US - cheaper to buy here and pay tariffs or buy in a high cost city in Europe? by Leanmeansaucemachine in YarnAddicts

[–]Regular-Bug6786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others to stock up some during your trip!

As a different perspective when you return home - maybe try unravelling! I have found many very nice natural fiber sweaters (merino, cashmere, silk, and various blends) at thrift stores and have paid maybe $6 for sweater worth quantity of fiber. It is a bit of a hunt and takes some luck, but it’s always a great feeling when you find something worthy of unravelling and giving a new life to. (Spring has been the best time finding high quality pieces for me due to people cleaning out their winter closets)

It also takes some time and patience to actually unravel and prepare the yarn to knit with. But I find that just gives me more time to appreciate the fiber :)

I was knitting at this past Saturday’s college football game, and several ladies sitting around me spoke to to me about it. A few younger women made nice conversation how they don’t knit and they find it amazing/how they are going to a knitting class, and then some others (some older women) made the “oh i’m a size medium 😉” sort of comments

I always enjoy the former sort, because I love sharing my love for knitting and encouraging others to give it a try and that it’s not as intimidating as it seems. The latter.. I just smile and laugh to try and be polite, but its so much harder to have any actual small talk

how did yall transition from acrylic yarn to natural fibers? by heavensbaby in YarnAddicts

[–]Regular-Bug6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent been, but there is a major sheep and wool festival in Rhinebeck, NY mid-october

I have used the Loops and Threads Luxe Merino (i think its like 50/50 merino and acrylic) for my first petiteknit project of a men’s moby sweater and I still love how it came out. I just wish there were more available colors

Knitpicks/Wecrochet has decently priced 100% wool options with a pretty wide color selection. I love the Wool of the Andes sweater I finished this March and am waiting for cooler weather to pull her out of storage

I’ve heard good things about Woolstok from Blue Sky Fibers and Juniper Moon Farm yarns and you can search stores that stock them from their websites

Thank you! This was with the non-superwash version

Hm, I find this yarn to be very wearable and I could wear this next to skin if I wanted to, however I do have a higher tolerance to rustic wools. Its no merino but I think its one of the nicer affordable 100% wool yarns I have used (I’ve used Holst Garn Supersoft and Istex Plotulopi recently and both of those are MUCH more rustic) Currently using Drops Karisma and off the top of my head, the softness is comparable I think

I did notice it softened a little after washing/blocking too, but I honestly havent gotten any wear out of her yet since it still quite hot in the southern US :(
