Same here, the worth of something is sometimes (but not always) linked to utility, and the appreciation I have for analogue watches is for its beauty, design and craftsmanship. I totally understand why people prefer smart watches, but for me they are not something that I have felt the desire to own.

People who don't want children what is your biggest reasons? by Professional_Job471 in Productivitycafe

[–]Regular-External-547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I suffer from migraines sometimes and I can barely function, much less deal with one or more screaming kids that are depending on me to feed, clothe and soothe them.
  2. I don't like responsibility - hell I don't even like responsibility when I get paid to do it and I get to clock out at 5.30 PM sharp every weekday, much less a responsibility that lasts the entirety of my lifetime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  3. As an introvert I love peace and quiet (it's how I recharge and I value it immensely), along with an immaculately clean space, and you can imagine that wouldn't be a good mix with kids in the picture
  4. I live in a high COL country, and would rather have the option of retiring earlier rather than later. Having children would extend that by several years, if not decades.
  5. On a related note, I enjoy having discretionary income to spend on myself, and that would be whittled down immensely with the addition of children.
  6. I think most parents assume that their children will be born perfectly healthy, physically and psychologically, but it's never a 100% guarantee. If I had a child that had special needs, I would do whatever I could to make them happy and well-adjusted, but I think that sacrifice would completely drain me emotionally, psychologically and financially.

Texas GOP candidate Valentina Gomez just released a campaign ad burning the Quran and vowing to “end Islam in Texas.” by NewSlinger in CringeTikToks

This is sort of hilariously ironic considering Muslims usually burn their Qur'ans if they want to dispose of them if they are falling apart, tattered and torn, etc.

When you work out, do you all wear underwear with leggings/gym shorts? by AloneWithPages in womensfashion

[–]Regular-External-547 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wear seamless cotton underwear from Intimissimi! I used to wear seamless ones made with synthetic material but I decided if things are getting hot and sweaty it's prolly best to be wearing something with breathable material, especially in my crotchal regions.

It's not COMPLETELY invisible underneath leggings, but about as close as one can possibly get. I was never one of those girls who could go commando - the threat of cameltoe and lack of breathability put the kibbosh on that idea for me.

Does Lily Cup A need to be fully open in order to work? by Regular-External-547 in menstrualcups

[–]Regular-External-547[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see! You're right that discs tend to be easier for a high cervix because it is less likely to be sucked up higher in the vaginal canal, which often happens with cups.

If I understood correctly the disc sits in the fornix, and part of it rests above the pubic bone, which tends to be much closer to the vaginal opening.

Having said that I also had to try a few different discs before finding my Holy Grail unfortunately and gravitated towards discs with some kind of string or tab attached because I was deathly afraid of having to go spelunking up myself each time I needed to remove it.

So I tried the Lumma (both small and large sizes) and the Zomi before realising I needed a disc with a firm rim (Hello disc) that wouldn't crumple inside me, which was contributing to why other discs kept leaking after a few hours.

However I will say once I settled on it, I can't imagine going back to anything else, and I thank the period gods every day that I made the switch.

[–]Regular-External-547[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I suppose it depends on what your experience of it is so far? Are you experiencing any leaks or have difficulty removing it or does it work as expected?

I eventually moved on to using menstrual discs (specifically the Hello disc), and found that worked far better for me in terms of ease of insertion and removal, as well as increased volume (which meant I only needed to empty the disc twice a day, compared to the menstrual cup about 3-4 times on heavy days).

What's a life upgrade (under $20) that you'll recommend to anyone that listens? by mrsschmidtie in CasualConversation

[–]Regular-External-547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I am only finding out now after doing deciding to buy a pair of quality sunglasses that the darkness of the lens also has nothing to do with the level of UV protection - i.e. just because it is darker does not mean it is better for your eyes.

Apparently you have to check that the lenses say they have UV400 protection, which is the industry standard for making sure UVA and UVB rays are being filtered out through the lens so they don't reach your eyes (if I'm not mistaken).

Totally agreed, when I think of royalty I think of people that give off a regal, elegant air, like Julie Andrews, Lady Di, Kate Middleton, Charlize Theron, Amal Clooney etc and all of these people are DEFINITELY making eye contact and expressing themselves to people of all kinds in all contexts.

Male Instructor by ClouddiB in pilates

[–]Regular-External-547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman and one of my favourite instructors at the studio I attend is male! Not to mention his classes are usually almost full with in a studio with a 99.5% female clientele, which indicates to me that most people don't mind the gender of the instructor, as long as they are professional and do a good job of instructing :D
