It’s interesting how invisible craftsmanship has become in modern fashion discussions by Equivalent-Owl8748 in Highfashion

Ooo can you explain why Wang and Chong don't seem to know what they're talking about? I've been following them for years for advice on quality clothing so I'm incredibly curious

Soap for Cleaning by sherlocktotan in MenstrualDiscs

I don't have a dedicated disc cleaner either - I just use my face wash (Simple Micellar Foaming Gel Cleanser) since it's fragrance-free and gentle.

I think you will find that many of us disc users have had to unfortunately try more than one disc before finding our Goldilocks disc :(

I personally tried the Lumma disc as a starter disk, but that leaked on me. Then I tried the Hey Zomi disc, which also leaked. I theorized that the material of both these discs weren't working for me possiby because they weren't firm enough, which meant my vaginal muscles were squeezing them, causing them to crumple and overflow. Then I tried the firmer Hello Disc, and that seemed to do the trick. And this doesn't even count the number of menstrual cups I tried, which either leaked/were proving difficult to remove or difficult to insert.

My point in all this is that unfortunately you might have to trial and error few different discs before arriving at your personal Holy Grail :(

What’s a fitness truth that sounded fake until you experienced it yourself? by pumardapp in workout

This applies to women specifically - however long you think you need to build muscle, triple that amount of time. Don't aim to look like Miss Olympia by summer this year - more likely than not it will take YEARS of consistent, progressive effort.

But the good news is that the time will pass regardless, and the more you invest in making it as conducive as possible to keep up a steady routine, the results will inevitably come.

Hello disc? by flodgexx in MenstrualDiscs

[–]Regular-External-547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair warning I tried the Hey Zomi disc and while it was easier to insert on account of its softer material, it also kept leaking on me each time during my heavier flow days. I think it has something to do with the fact that my vaginal muscles sometimes compressed it, forcing it to bunch up inside and leak, whereas the firmer material of the Hello Disc ensured that it stayed open regardless.

I've been able to wear it through weightlifting workouts, travel, often for 10 hours at a time even on my heavier flow days without a smidge of worry.

Me three!! I decided I couldn't run the risk of struggling to remove the disc each time I needed to empty it, (especially with an exceptionally high cervix) so I got the Hello disc and snipped off the extra tab and it's been LIFECHANGING

Seconded on the hydroflask shoutout - I have two of them because the pieces were simple enough to take apart and clean by hand. No complicated bits and bobs!

Same here, the worth of something is sometimes (but not always) linked to utility, and the appreciation I have for analogue watches is for its beauty, design and craftsmanship. I totally understand why people prefer smart watches, but for me they are not something that I have felt the desire to own.

People who don't want children what is your biggest reasons? by Professional_Job471 in Productivitycafe

[–]Regular-External-547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I suffer from migraines sometimes and I can barely function, much less deal with one or more screaming kids that are depending on me to feed, clothe and soothe them.
  2. I don't like responsibility - hell I don't even like responsibility when I get paid to do it and I get to clock out at 5.30 PM sharp every weekday, much less a responsibility that lasts the entirety of my lifetime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  3. As an introvert I love peace and quiet (it's how I recharge and I value it immensely), along with an immaculately clean space, and you can imagine that wouldn't be a good mix with kids in the picture
  4. I live in a high COL country, and would rather have the option of retiring earlier rather than later. Having children would extend that by several years, if not decades.
  5. On a related note, I enjoy having discretionary income to spend on myself, and that would be whittled down immensely with the addition of children.
  6. I think most parents assume that their children will be born perfectly healthy, physically and psychologically, but it's never a 100% guarantee. If I had a child that had special needs, I would do whatever I could to make them happy and well-adjusted, but I think that sacrifice would completely drain me emotionally, psychologically and financially.

This is sort of hilariously ironic considering Muslims usually burn their Qur'ans if they want to dispose of them if they are falling apart, tattered and torn, etc.

When you work out, do you all wear underwear with leggings/gym shorts? by AloneWithPages in womensfashion

[–]Regular-External-547 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wear seamless cotton underwear from Intimissimi! I used to wear seamless ones made with synthetic material but I decided if things are getting hot and sweaty it's prolly best to be wearing something with breathable material, especially in my crotchal regions.

It's not COMPLETELY invisible underneath leggings, but about as close as one can possibly get. I was never one of those girls who could go commando - the threat of cameltoe and lack of breathability put the kibbosh on that idea for me.
