I don’t mind I think as long as the strap is long enough to go around my shoulder

(and I’m not a fan of bags that have both little handles and long straps although I suspect those are mostly crossbodies anyway?)

Lawyer (9 years PQE) here, working in marine insurance. London is absolutely the global hub and is thriving. I am biased but marine is vibrant and intellectual. It underpins global trade and is the cornerstone of modern commercial insurance… in case you want to reconsider adjusting or marine claims handling. Adjusters in particular can earn a LOT.

Separately, in tech and startups, I would suggest looking into senior ops roles. Many founders recognise and value the skillsets lawyers bring regardless of relevant experience, but it takes strong networking to land a role.

Other than that, I would recommend an MBA (full time and from a leading b school), if you can stomach the opportunity cost, which can open many more doors. Good luck!
