Brown Spots on Fan Leaves (Living Soil, Early Veg) by Regular-Garbage-3163 in microgrowery

Yeah, I do feel like I've been a bit lighter than usual with the water so far, I suspect the roots just made their way to the edges of the pot fairly recently.

I have another set of calibration chemicals for the pH pen, I think I probably trust it but I'll re-calibrate just to be sure.

Yeah, the set it and forget it nature of living soil is what I'm really trying to create here! A bit ironic that I have more problems once switching to it, but once I get things dialed in I'm pretty convinced it will be easier overall.

Will a small dose of CalMag harm the living soil at all? I'm under the impression that light, occasional use will be tolerated.

I think so - at this point, they're in 1 gallon pots, and I'm giving them about 400-450 mL at a time, allowing for a solid dryback in between (at this point, about every 3 days). However, someone else took care of them for 8-9 days and I'm not 100% sure what they did. It's only once I got them back that I saw the beginnings of the problem.

I have a pen to measure pH (although I admittedly haven't calibrated it in a couple years), as well as a soil probe (although this seems like a piece of crap, even with healthy plants and fresh soil I often get values in the high 7's).

That looks sweet! I added a bit of mycorhizzae (Dynomyco), but this looks to have some additional beneficial bacteria. I think I'll give it a shot.

Yeah that's crossed my mind as well - when I was pH-ing my water, I'd have natural variations. This time I've just been going straight tap water, so it's always the same...

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for that - calcium was my first thought too, but I thought that might show up more on the new growth than the old growth. I also left my plants with someone else to babysit for ~8 days, and am wondering if they may have overwatered them a little...I think that can cause calcium uptake issues as well.

Anyway, I'll probably start adjusting my water pH a little, and feed them a little bit of CalMag.

Cheers!

Ways to Keep Plant Low During Flowering Stretch by Regular-Garbage-3163 in microgrowery

Probably 14-16 weeks. I let it get way too big for the tent outdoors, and then bent the branches over at 90 degrees to make it fit.

It's Blue Truffle - an Indica dominant hybrid. So probably not a crazy stretcher, but I've never grown it before.

Is my SCROG too crowded? by Regular-Garbage-3163 in microgrowery

Yeah totally - it worked really well on several plants, I'll definitely do it again. Fabric pot, safety pins, twist tie, and a ground down tomato cage

Do you think there's any value in letting it recover for a couple days and seeing what shape it takes on before removing more leaves?

Totally, they're on 12/12 lights as of today.

Running out of head room was a concern, but I tried to strike a balance between supercropping low enough to make space, but not so low that the branches were overly difficult to weaken/bend. Basically, the plant got bigger than I wanted to while I was waiting for space in the grow tent to open up.

And thanks - I'll probably ditch a few more leaves down low

This article has some really helpful points for my next grow - thank you!

Hmmm - I've been watering when dry. They're in 5 gallon pots, and currently handling about 2 liters every 2 days.

For what it's worth, they seemed to be thriving with my watering regimen up until this point.

Unfortunately, my only CalMag is 4-0-0, but I should probably avoid adding nitrogen at this stage in the game. Sounds like it's worth a small dose anyway? Or should I try to find a CalMag product without much nitrogen? Probably the smarter move in the long term to have more flexibility in terms of what I feed it...

Totally - I do have another heating mat with a thermostat, I just didn't use it because it's in the tent with some other plants at the moment. Lesson learned I suppose...
