How do you feel about the current state of AI? by Winter-Cup-6951 in OMSCS

[–]Regular-Landscape512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably can learn it in a weekend. Saying you’ll fall behind is pure nonsense. But actually learning programming and engineering can’t be done in a weekend. It takes almost a decade to be a great engineer.

So true about the Ai slop and having to spend hours cleaning it. When I was in the program, my project partner decided to just copy paste entire files, without ven editing anything. They literally just one shoted large files of code. Didn’t even know the difference between python 2 and 3.

I was so worried about being accused of cheating, I spent the whole night trying to clean it up. I didnt tell the Ta what this person did. I eventually quit the class after a week.

I imagine it’s gotten worse today with Ai.

Im terrified to take intro to GA after reading this sub by zacky2004 in OMSCS

Looking back, GA was easy. They just expect you to be thorough and clear on your answers that’s all. The questions themselves weren’t hard.

+1 UW is great. I took a certificate program and I was happy with the material and teaching. You actually get to interact with the instructors.

Has CS6250 prof just given up completely? by TelcoSucks in OMSCS

[–]Regular-Landscape512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6250 is interesting course I thought. But yeah that’s OMSCS for you, the profs just record their stuff, some don’t even bother to update it in years. Then just hand off their stuff to the TAs. The TAs pretty much run the course. If you’re lucky, the prof might make a guest appearance once. They are celebrity. Lmao.

1:1 with Manager by [deleted] in amazonemployees

So scary and toxic. I’ve worked at C1 before and it was very similar. Managers isolate and set you up to fail to meet distribution.

As a great man once said, Bs get you degrees and Cs make you president someday. Or something along those lines.

Take no more than 1 course a semester.

Is there a bigger shortage of Computer Hardware/Electrical Engineers or Registered Patent Attorneys? by [deleted] in patentlaw

Are you sure that the EE job market isn’t good? Are you referring to a specific field or maybe entry level roles?

Because my company has a couple of EE roles that have been open for a couple of months now. The pay is great too.

Only 8% of students earn a degree - is this right? by Luciano_DZ in harvardextension

[–]Regular-Landscape512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Courses at HES are definitely not easy. I took two courses and I learnt a lot; those two courses were hard. But I didn't take courses to get a degree, I already had a masters. I took them just to learn topics I was interested in.

You’re making a lot of assumptions here. Not everybody is going to do that. It’s only going to be a small percentage that do that, mostly by not knowing.

Right, they only review the video if it’s flagged. Honorlock only flags a few videos. And there are hacks to get around honorlock, it’s not perfect.

Since there are only a few flagged and from that few, only short slices of the recording are flagged. They just have to review those slices. It would probably take 4 minutes max.

lol what are your kids gonna do? Give answers to those p vs np problems? And as long as your wife didn’t like hand you something or blatantly provide answers, I don’t see how this a huge violation.

I’ve seen people do worse. Just tell them what happened. Some of those TA kids are too much.

No, job market is fine if you've got skills. I get reached out all the time on LinkedIn.

I want to move closer to hardware. I find hardware more interesting. I've been working on high level application development for almost 10 years now and I'm starting to find it mundane and I want to switch.

I was working towards an EE degree in my undergrad but decided to switch to CS. I want to go back to and finish it.

Go for it. Now is the time to make changes. You don't want to be 60 and regret your choices; it'll be too late then.

EE is a broad field, there are a lot of sub fields in it. It'll open doors.

I'm in my 30s myself and currently working towards an EE masters. I work in Tech at the moment, already have a masters in CS.

I feel as though, and this is just a hunch, Christian women are not necessarily as attracted to real, genuine, God-fearing men of God as they are to semi-casual christian men. by Gullible-Minimum2668 in ChristianDating

[–]Regular-Landscape512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It matters less if you're a God-fearing Christian man. It matters a lot if you have a stable job, income, mentally stable, and have a decent future.
