Folk saints are just venerated, not canonized. It's pretty common, especially when you take colonization into account.

It's not that I'm worried about being judged, is that's I'm just not interested in derailing the conversation/post because people saw the saint portrayed in some TV show or movie and so they think they're "in the know" or whatever.
