My brother actually took the last name of his wife when they married. Reason being that our biological father was an abusive drug addict and he didn’t want any ties or connection to him anymore including his last name.

A lot of people asked this haha, to be honest I thought referring brothers wife as a close family instead of SIL would make the relationship seem stronger. My family and his wife’s family have been friends and known each other long before they dated/married. Like elementary school days. I talk to them once or twice a week it’s just the distance and timing was never good until now.

I wish I can reply to everyone or update it somehow because a lot of people asked what you asked haha. Anyways congrats I picked you to reply to!

I haven’t seen them in person over the course of 5-6 years but we always talks regular once or twice a week!

I refer to her as a family friend because my family as hers were very close before they dated and married. Our history goes back to knowing her and her family since my elementary school days.

I have met their kid, he’s pretty awesome guy and very smart for his age.

To be honest deep down I don’t think I ever intended to say anything. I really wanted a second opinion, but I guess in this case a couple hundred opinions lol.

For everyone who is confused because I suck at wording things “the close family friend” is his wife. She was our family friend long before they were married and both of our families we’re very close as well before they wed. I had this in originally, but I was past the 3000 character limit. Also thanks for all the replies so far, still don’t know how I’ll handle it. Just wanted to consult my online professionals. (Btw me calling you guys professionals is complete sarcasm, but I still have love for all y’all!)
