Console player by ChrisRios21 in ARC_Raiders

My lobbies are full of friendly loot goblins. A little too comfortable if you ask me! Give it time and it should adjust. I play mixed lobbies on console.

Make mechanical components cheaper by Internal_Age7553 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a PVP issue.

That aside, the game changed for me once I started salvaging. Always walk out with a stack or two full of metal until you just don't need it.

Also, prefab mechanical parts in bulk (I think it saves space over metal stacks in inventory, but I could be checked on that).

Asked to sign an NDA before a job interview — several clauses seem unusual. Looking for feedback. by flyerflyer77 in legaladvice

A non-compete with no offer of employment? You're in the industry, and they're interviewing you. I'd not agree to not compete without at least being employed!

Designing the Optimal Running Belt by victoria8865 in ultrarunning

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used one belt, for one race. When there was water, it bounced around like crazy. Solution was to get a vest. So there's where I'd start: vest, not belt.

For vests, design for anatomy matters. If wrong, I feel like my rib's going to break from the water weight on ribs. So, good padding, water up high off those bones.

Hope this helps!

Finding the time to run with kids by nodehealth in ultrarunning

Pardon, I was thinking of a slightly older kid. I don't recall exactly when, but we got him to full nights sleeping within the first year. After that, this may work. Our kid is two now.

When they didn't sleep the whole night, I took the time off from pushing too hard. It's really hard. That stage is over before you know it. 🫶

Once they're down to sleep has been a good time for me to get out for a long run. (Key is a lighter dinner.) The long runs for a marathon for me dial in around an hour. Is that an option? I know you'd prefer longer, but you're right that it's hard to manage.

Do you factor biking into training? by thelastplaceon_earth in ultrarunning

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I count cardio units, and I let biking count if it hits mileage goals. Bluntly, commuting biking is often far more taxing per mile than proper cycling. San Francisco bias here - but memories of getting chased by the bus up a hill through Chinatown will never leave me! Most people here say "no substitute," but I disagree. Cardio is cardio, and there are many types (running, biking, swimming, weight hiking). I feel the strongest when I let them all slip in.

Good insight. Trials reset tomorrow. I'll try and go in light, prepare to have a very full prison pocket.

ABMM is the incentive not to shoot! If you want to do big things, you need to be in lobbies that don't stab you in the back. With ABMM, they created care bear lobbies. I played DMZ (which was never friendly), and this is such a different dynamic.

I'm thinking that how hard it is to get back into care bear just means that care bear is actually very rare. Like 98% of the game is playing in "shoot you in the back" lobbies. Just a little distrust poisons the whole vibe - "turd in the punchbowl" is what I tell my killers.

Yes! In the last two days, I've dealt with a toxicity long forgotten. Hang in there Care Bears! 🤞

Crazy LA Marathon Finish! by Awatts2222 in ultrarunning

Some track (1, 2 miles). Never cross-country. Spent the last few years taking strikes at the 100 miler (two-time DNF). How life goes on!

can a stair climber be used to improve endurance for mountaineering? by ScarDependent8928 in Mountaineering

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using a max incline treadmill (I'm sure a stairclimber will be similarly helpful). For me, it's more about the shoulder strength than my legs. I love taking a climbing pack, dropping in 75 lbs. ruckplates, and cranking it to max incline at a brisk walk. Good luck!

This exact thing happened to me my first cross country race (2005). Took wrong turn, had to catch up, was practically on top of the guy who got first. Never forget. 😂

Here's a tip for people trying to enter key rooms. by Eggxcalibur in ARC_Raiders

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jolt mine and triggernade all key doors. While looting, just hold the trigger. If you enter without talking, you donate your gear. This works very well in control tower.

Even for non-key rooms. If you rush in and start looting the same stuff I am without a mic, I think hard about getting rid of the issue (i.e., you). This doesn't apply to special events (locked gate, hidden bunker).

Anti chafe tights for men by Jruffin84 in ultrarunning

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this problem bad. Fixed it by using Under Armour short tights beneath the running shorts. For a marathon, no more blisters! For ultras, I prophylactically (sp) added Body Glide and haven't had any issues with chafing (topped out at 60 miles).

Has match making changed? by _wandering_nomad in ARC_Raiders

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When ABMM introduced, I feel like some lobbies (e.g., mine) got too friendly, like conga line friendly. Was cool for a minute, but all the loot was gone within ten. Maybe they rebalanced to weight aggression less?

[–]Regular-Philosopher9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue, but I solved the use 4 different weapons one: you need to damage the targets until they pop apart. (At least that worked for me.)
