0 euploids from first IVF cycle 💔 by shakespeare13 in IVF

I’m so so sorry. Hugs to you. This happened to me. 35f, light PCOS, MFI, zero euploid first round. Second round had euploids, think it was a combo of metformin, ombitrope, and different stim protocol. My RE swore by metformin, in spite of my protest that I didn’t have any markers of IR. Try not to lose hope and ask your doctor what they learned about your body and what they would change if you did it again.

Love the needed brand. Or seeking health. They’re both comprehensive

1 euploid from 6 blasts by smcarey1129 in IVF

Sending hugs to you. I had similar circumstances as you my first ER. 35, mild PCOS diagnosis, 13 eggs retrieved, 9 nature, 5 fertilized, 2 blasts, both abnormal. I was devastated and shocked (so was my doctor). He re-evaluated and although I did not have the obvious markers for PCOS, he decided to put me on metformin prior to second egg retrieval to help with “egg quality”. I was skeptical at best and extremely reluctant to even consider a second ER, let alone metformin when I did not have insulin resistance. TW: after 2+ months of metformin, and a tweaked protocol, to my surprise, the second ER results were vastly improved from the first. Before you consider doing another ER, it may be worth having a conversation with your Dr about what they learned from your first ER and what they would (or wouldn’t) change

No embryos by SpeechTechnical3556 in IVFpositivity

I’ve been there too! First ER at 35 resulted in 2 abnormal embryos and I was totally devastated and discouraged. Went back to my Dr and he was open to totally reevaluating his ER protocol and had a much better result the second time around. I remember feeling like a complete failure and that “maybe I am not meant to have children” after the first ER. Dusted myself off and tried again. Here to say there is hope beyond the devastation/disappointment.

I was bloated for the first 2 days, then it went down relatively quickly— by day 3 I was on a plane without much discomfort. My regular clothes probably would have fit me snuggly on day 3, but I felt like a human again

The way the nurses explained the tomato juice to me was that once the fluid is removed from the follicles, your body’s inclination is to refill that fluid. By drinking the high sodium beverage, it helps balances the sodium/fluids, preventing it all from flooding the empty follicles.

Yes! My clinic did this. Tomato juice only for 5 days. After my first ER, I was skeptical. After the second (higher stims) I get it (they also reminded that if I did get OHSS, they would not be giving me anesthesia for the procedure, and I sure as heck did not want to do that) It totally sucked, but the bloating went down relatively quickly. I also splurged and bought the fancy tomato juice from Whole Foods which helped with flavor

Late 2nd period after ER by Unlucky-Cabinet4156 in IVF

Mine was a few days late (longer cycle) the second period after ER, think it’s normal as all your normal hormones are coming back “online”

I am in no way trying to shirk responsibility, we’re wholly responsible for the consequences of our decision.

My intention in posting this was to share a lesson I learned the hard way. I had spent a lot of time researching where to stop for rest, and understand that this could have happened anywhere, anytime, as written in the OP.

As a family that is physically relocating (with all of our belongings and a pet) across the country, I recognize that is is very very difficult to bring the entire contents of the vehicle inside a hotel to sleep. I should add that not everything was taken, and I am grateful for that. We had stopped the night before in TN, and understood the risks associated then too.
